Why ESO doesn't have trial?

Come on ZOS trials are a great way to attract new players, I suggest stalling it though till console release when the game itself is more polished

Last I checked, Wildstar only had some buddy demo keys which last 7 days or so. It have open trial now?

To get more people to try the game. I think they may have trouble with subs in the long term because it's not casual friendly at all despite it's appearance. It takes a lot of time investment and the ability to work well with others on a regular basis to succeed.

Best to wait until the game is a little more polished... maybe after the veteran overhaul is done would be a good time..

^ This is my guess. I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the MMO gaming community don't even realize Wildstar is made by old blizzard devs in a way that they think WoW should've been (old school WoW). Having a trail, and yes it's a 7day buddy invite thing, is a way to get more players to try it out. I'm all for ESO having such a system but don't think it'll hurt the game if they don't.

Lol, I bought game, paid on credit card, so months sub was taken on top of purchase, I am level 10 lol, and haven't been back for 3 weeks.

It is a lot smoother in game and combat mechanics I,ll give it that, but I just didn't want to go back to it.

Only thing is angry joe doesn't understand why people pay subs and prefers to play free games. I love him, but he hates mmos. So he's kinda incredible bias in this review

WS is not as bad as people make it here. They managed the whole max level content a lot better, they have a VR system in place as well but the community isn't as horrible as here and demanded its deletion.

People at WS are into the max level content, into challenges - it takes you 6 months to max a char over there.

Fact is, ESO does focus more on the 1-50 content - WS does focus more on the content at max level. They also released a patch addressing the single threading, at ESO we are still waiting for that

If you cant play WS, then its because of you not because of the game. I am sure many WS players would also never get past level 10 at ESO, as its too story driven and boring for them - just like its boring for you to grind to max level and then work 6 months on your char to get its full potential.

Two different games - two different communities.

As for test accounts, I don't think they make sense. You are so restricted that you can not explore the game at all. Either you can only get to level 10 or so, you can only make 1 char or you cant talk to anyone in the game.

Definitely not a valid way to attract customers for an MMORPG.

not from what i have seen. he did a review of defiance. which as at the time a B2P F2P game. that was spot on. (to bad I did not watch it till i bought the collector ed. )

They could be used to spam local chat with gold sites. Certainly would wreck the early leveling experience with tons of randoms using silly names running about everywhere.

As Stated ESO had a bigger fanbase. Wildstar needed the subs more and in fact sold better than they thought (Not that everyone is going to stay). I also tried the WS beta. I was bored at level 2 but forced myself to level 12 i tried I really did but it brought nothing new to the table. After playing ESO and WS I prefered ESO because it was the first non WoW clone I have seen in a long time. I actually saw more people in VR1 yesterday than I did in the beginning levels of WS beta.

All that being said I wouldn't doubt that ESO will release a free weekend or a free trial at some point. FF14 ARR lost so many subs because of their crap launch that they did a free weekend to coax players back. I believe when Zenimax does finally get a little smoother and maybe another update or two under their belt that they will do a free trial or a free weekend. It is good business to do that. Might even be sometime after the console release who knows.

WS biggest problem is that behind all the PR and the new kid on the block the game really doesn't offer any content.

It's a korean grindfest on steroids. I do hope that ESO will be giving out guestpasses at update 3 or 4 to get riddance of this internet hate. People keep remembering ESO right after launch. The game has evolved a lot!.

Unfortunately first impressions last !
And although I agree the game has evolved loads and is far better than it was 3 months ago, a lot of those people will still remember what it was like and never come back.

Aye, and the fact that he gave GW2 a 10/10 and seal of endorsement really does show his bias toward F2P MMO's, When it comes to MMO's he is clueless and take what he says with a pinch of salt.

I might add though that although his review Of ESO is much worse than it should be, much of what he said is true. If you take out all the crap about money and cost.

How about just recognizing the obvious. TESO hasn't had trials because enough players are playing to not require them. WS apparently cannot keep enough players interested to make the game viable.

Sorry TESO > WS at least as far as subscriptions are concerned.

Dude, Learn to comprehend what you read. "From devolving" Means lowering standards, to belittle. "into comparisons and discussions" which is the action being taken and "of other games" which is the focus of the actions being taken. Her pint was that this thread is altering from the perceived topic and turning into a comparison of ESO and other games, which is something she apparently does not think anyone should ever be doing because ESO is the only thing we are allowed to discuss.

Yes, welcome to the ESO forums. You will find similar rules on every other gaming forum ever.

You can't go on WoW's forums and compare it to ESO or Wildstar, or Wildstar's forums and compare it to WoW. Forums for a specific game are for discussion of that specific game, not for discussion of a totally different title.
