Fishing bugged?

Not sure if I missed something, I did a quick search on forums and didn't find any posts yet.....

I had no issues before (probably over a month ago), but I've noticed when I try to fish at a spot, I hold my action key and calls up the bait wheel. I select the bait I want, then release my action key... and nothing. The wheel is still up and will not close, nor will it accept my bait choice (I can't even move my mouse since it just spins the bait wheel). The only way to get rid of wheel is to open map or inventory, forcing me out of the wheel, therefore negating the bait choice.

So basically, I can't fish at all. I tried relogging a few times (someone suggested that) but am still having the issue. Is it just me? Am I missing something? Or is it just bugged at the moment?

Just went and tried it out, and the wheel does seem to have a wee bit of lag. But frankly these days, what doesn't. Other than that the bait switch is good. Have you got more than one character? Perhaps try a switch over and see if your luck improves.

they will be changing fishing so that there is a .01 % chance that the fish will pull you in killing your character.

Thank you Maxbo, I waited for about 1.5mins before deciding it was definitely more than just lag.
But since you said it worked fine for you, I must have been doing something wrong

Well, 20 minutes later, I figured it out.

Apparently, (not sure if its my mouse or everyone's) but using a mouse button (I'm using MMB, or in my case, clicking my mouse wheel) to interact with the environment (and thus, holding MMB for the fishing spot) Mouse buttons open the wheel but never close it. I tested LMB and RMB, both seem to cause the bait wheel to open but never close. I had to changed my environment interaction button an actual key on keyboard, and it worked perfectly, not even any lag

I was wondering if someone else minds trying this quickly using LMB, RMB or MMB for environment interaction and try fishing. Curious if its my mouse or just ESO programing.

That's a nice little piece of troubleshooting you did there.
Myself I use an XBox controller with all the needed key bindings in place.
So for me, I just hold what would normally be the 'E' key, then release once I've picked the bait I want: In my case that's done with the use of the joystick.
The nice thing about fishing, is that each one is an easy 3 gold pieces.
But the real treat is getting to real in some of those wet gunny sacks with the loot inside.
