ZOS has already made it known they are cool with people using the speed hack. Have at it guys, there will be no negative consequences.

    Hack or bug?

Be specific, I've had friend with the speed bug. It's pretty funny.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

There's a speed bug that can be exploited. It can happen to anyone. I've seen it multiple times so far the only thing that fixes it is dying.

I wasn't 100% sure that it was a hack vs a bug... that's why I posted here, to see if anyone else had seen it.

so is it a bug as mentioned above, or is it a hack where they manipulate the packets from the server to gain a speed advantage?

I really don't want to report someone who isn't doing anything wrong.. that's all

You have no way of knowing, but the GMs do. So report the player. The GMs will sort out whether it's a bug or intentional exploiting/hacking.

The speed bug can be fixed by getting killed (or suicide). So, if you get it... go ahead and play for a second, have fun with it for a few minutes but don't use it for the war (we had multiple people bug at once in our group... so we did races and trick jumps), and then suicide. You will res fixed and all is good (the folks in my group that had the bug self-reported it as a matter of integrity).

If you see people using the speed bug to their advantage in the Alliance War, then I believe that they turned the bug into an exploit and should be banned.

Ok with me... I have only seen it once,,, I thought it was suspicious because the person was running around at lightning speed gathering resources... next time I will report the name and let ZOS straighten it out.

There was an emperor on auriels bow that used this speedhack a whole evening. Again, it may have been just a bug with him, but he sure took great advantage of it. I reported him, and havent seen him since.

Not sure how you didn't see the massive number of such bots the game had until only a few weeks ago.

Ahh so that's what that is... this happened to me a day or two ago, no idea what triggered it, but I was fine one minute.. next I was running around like Benny Hill for a while!

That speed bug is triggered by some NB ability I got affected by it while I was questing cyrodiil. One of allies casted something and my sorc started to run like she was on drugs :-D.

I must say it was fun as hell seeing here in lighting form sprinting :-) she was faster than sprinting horse.

I did use it only to finish some quests, then I lagged (abilities and weapon swap stopped working so I got killed by mob) upon death this bug disapeared.

If someone did not keep killing players or took scroll using it I would not ban it.

If you don't use it against player it is harmless bug.

Ive had this bug on me 20 times atleast. Those suicides... so annoying.
Ive had it in Clouding swarm (Vamp ultimate). What triggered it, was a knockdown in that invis form.

Just make sure its the speed bug(ie. they look like Sonic the Hedgehog) and not just some guy or gal using Paths of Darkness.

My Bloodmage often uses Paths of Darkness for travelling since non-combat magic regen is about as fast regening as I use for running.

How do you report someone using a speed hack exactly? Without names over people's heads you can't see their name and if they are moving that fast you can't catch them.

^^ This. The actual speed hackers are impossible to target to report. ESO could definitely benefit from a method for targeting/locking-on-to Player Characters.

I've fallen prey to the Speed Bug on my NB quite a bit recently. Though I've never had to suicide/die to cure it. Swapping weapons and/or pressing the Sheath (Z) button a couple times cures it for me.

Have a weird thing that happens with my NB occasionally and have had a couple of WTF whispers when it happens and worry about getting reported.

After attacking and killing from stealth she's stuck in the stealth animation but runs at full tilt, it's annoying and she looks ridiculous, have to none stealth kill something else and then sheath weapon to get rid of it.

Can't see why people use those speed or any other exploits though, how is it making them feel their achieving something when they're cheating ?

@ZOS_JordanH‌, I have heard this line before, but now I know better that it does not work.

Yes, feel free to use the report player function so you think ZOS cares, just don't expect any action to be taken.

We have reported dozens in the last two weeks to see nothing done. One even exploited the bug to run a scroll across the map (and was reported by many) and he never received even a warning. Another used it to run ahead and place camps for intercepting a scroll, nothing done. A group used it to get to inaccessible cliffs to fire from... nothing happened to any of the reported.

So again fellow travelers, exploit away! You have nothing to fear from any devs/mods.

You have no idea what action was taken against that player's account. You have no way of knowing anything about what happened at any point. Please stop spreading lies.
