A night and day difference! Awesome thank you, even though it took a frustratingly long time. ZOS this may be as good a time as any to offer a game time compensation. It would be VERY positive pr move.
On second thought, let's not go to the forums. 'Tis a silly place.

The hotfix appears to have worked.

Now we must furrow our brows in consternation, then demand explanations, instead of just being grateful for being provided with what we had previously demanded.

(Sings): "I see your truuuue colors shiiiining through!"

ZOS: Can you guys put together a hotfix for the forum community?

But in all seriousness: Good work, ZOS! Thank you!

Hah! not a bad idea! Wonder if that "fix" would include getting rid of me too.

Not to mention all my friends who are letting their subs run out... an extra two weeks might convince them to resub. Most of the VR12 players in my guild have lost substantial hope.

Game client is not starting for me after the hotfix. I see Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe in the task manager with a slowly increasing amount of memory used. It has been working for 15+ minutes. Anyone experiencing something similar?

Trying to manually run ESO.exe also appears to have no effect. Client just doesn't seem to start.

I'm patching now, and stoked everyone is saying it helps, but why hasn't it been explained what was wrong? Unless it was something ridiculous, such as a human error where for no reason at all the game was using resources because of some little line of code, you should tell us what it is. I realize you don't have to, but after ruining the game for such a long time for so many people, telling us is the courteous thing to do :D

Or giving us free time, because for me it sucked in PvE but I know for some people it's been completely unplayable and therefore a waste of money for them. But in all honesty I doubt that'll happen.

Definitely a HOTFIX this one. You nailed it. Completely forgot to post back after time flew being back in Cyrodiil once more.
    PC NA

Games are meant to be played.

Back in Auriel's Bow 1.0, I have thought that the best way to handicap a faction with the HUGE pop advantage is to temporarily disable their grouping functionality and their ability to fight in 3rd person point of view! Let's see if these do not even up the odds.

Tested this morning and that unexpected hotfix just repair the FPS issue and we can finally enjoy Cyrodill as before.

Good job ZOS and keep working hard on this game, because it has a lot of potential to go bigger and become a niche for a lot of gamers.

They will be VERY happy to have alot of Vet 12 players who cant do weapon swap in combat, using several abilities at the same time, switching em out while you doing a dungeon. Run ahead and pull lots mobs to wipe the group.

And complain to Zenimax that dungeons vet 12 and raid and trials and all the HARD stuff....isnt workding......your friends will be SOOO happy playing with those kinds of players.....

After arround 1h of test, I can say ZOS have fixed at 80% the fps bug. Now I have arround 5-8 fps less in big battles than pre-1.2 but is a good patch anyway.

How about for once telling us what caused it and why it only appeared in 1.2.3 and why since it was so localised to that patch it took so long for the cause to be identified?

I don't really care for what caused it. I only care if it's finally fixed and stays fixed.

This seems to have 100% FIXED my fps issues in Cyrodiil. Thank you Zenimax, you have completely restored my faith in this game by having a fix in such a timely manner.

    lol "timely manner"

Yes, People expect too much too fast these days and rage too hard if they don't get it right away. Nothing but a bunch of spoiled children.

Two weeks in the MMO world is not timely so I wouldn't exactly call people spoiled children. Especially when you are paying for a product that wasnt working.

Had a chance to test PVP in Wabbajack after installing the hotfix update.

The performance now seems to be a bit better than it was prior to patch 1.2.3, but I still experience frame rate drops in very large battles (more than 30v30)

    - Prior to live server, on PTS I was getting 30-35fps in cyrodiil (low to medium settings) at 1600x900, with no frame rate drops, 40-50 fps in delves.

    - On live prior to patch 1.2.3, frame rate was ~25-35fps in cyrodiil (lowest settings except medium texture and medium subsampling) at 1600x900, with occasional drops down to 7-10 fps near large keep battles on high pop campaigns. Seemed to average about 40-50 fps in PVE delves, on medium textures and high subsampling in PVE.

    - Following patch 1.2.3 my frame rate was similar except it would frequently drop in even smaller pvp battles down to 1 or 2fps, even at 1280x720, lowest possible settings, and with audio turned off. Also experienced frequent drops down to 2-4 fps in the Elhinir area of Craglorn. Occasionally when the frame rate was as high as 20fps, the game felt very unresponsive compared to previous user experience at 20fps.

    - After this latest hotfix, I'm able to play with audio sound effects turned on, AA enabled at 1280x720, medium textures, medium subsampling, and my frame rate ranges from 22-40fps in cyrodiil. Only near extremely large battles with many enemy players did my frame rate drop down around 8-12fps. There seemed to be some improvement to server latency, as the game felt a bit more responsive at 20fps for example, compared to 20fps prior to this hotfix.

In case it's helpful, here is my dxdiag:

The hotfix appears to have worked.

Now we must furrow our brows in consternation, then demand explanations instead of just being grateful for being provided what we had previously demanded.

(Sings): "I see your truuuue colors shiiiining through!"

ZOS: Can you guys put together a hotfix for the forum community?

But in all seriousness: Good work, ZOS! Thank you!

the fps is still horrible, i had much higher before "that" patch, this is fixed only "half way".

Update: the hotfix is completed on NA, and we are working on pushing it to the EU megaserver.

So is the fix live on the EU servers or not?
The first post made it sound like you pushed them both at the same time, the second made it sound like EU is still waiting (and was posted and hour ago).
Apologies for the confusion! As @Larira said, the hotfix is now live on both megaservers. I will update the later post to clarify this.

The hotfix doesn't fix anything. Yesterday I repaired the game and played with VERY low FPS but no Bad Load Error's

Today I got the hotfix, restarted my PC and loaded the game... and within 2 minute BAM "Bad Load Error" and the FPS or rather the NPC's still dont show up from time to time whether its a battle or just talking in towns, outside on roads.

    what are we paying for?

Is it a display bug? but I still have 1.2.4.1017325 and 7/7/2014 after restarting the launcher. Should we download patch 1.2.5 manually?

I wonder if this hotfix was applied to the 1.2.4 patch and that applying it required reverting the 1.2.5 patch back to 1.2.4? Regardless, my game also says it is 1.2.4.1017325. What happened to 1.2.5.nnnnnnn?

Would it be asking to much to display some identification that a hotfix was applied? My last version for 1.2.4 ended with 1015292 which is different from the 1.2.4 today (1017325).

What's going on? You are still showing patch notes for 1.2.5 here. What's going on?

We have identified the primary cause of the performance issues (FPS drops) that some of you have been experiencing since we released v1.2.3. This has been most noticeable in Cyrodiil, but also in PVE areas. We have pushed a client hotfix to the both North American and European megaservers. This hotfix will require you to log out of the game and patch before it is applied.

We sincerely thank you for your patience as we work to improve game performance. Please let us know how the game plays for you after this hotfix.

    Thank you.

I tried some PvP this morning after reading the forum that an alleged fix came in last night. I noticed my frames were better but there is still stutttering and massive fps dives near keeps.

While the FPS does try and correct itself, it's still diminished to a point of noticible stutter. It's much worse than it was prior to 1.2.3.

My question is: Have you considered this issue fixed? Because it's clearly not. I should have 60fps in big fights (as I once did) and right now I drop to 12-20.
@ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ this issue should not be considered resolved.

Thank you!!! After the HotFix last night I could actually participate in large skirmish at a Keep without the frustration of using skills (frustration fighting against a strong defense was another story). FPS still lower than a month ago, but at least it was playable. Doesn't matter to me what the problem was, but that it is being addressed I'm thankful.

just tested it in a big fight and there is indeed a huge improvement.

It's playable, in big fights, averaging 20-25 fps.

On the other hand, it still need to be improved cause I'm pretty sure the FPS of a few weeks ago was much smoother.

Basically, thanks, nice one, it's playable now, but still not perfect :)
