This is precisely what happened. I asked @ZOS_GinaBruno if the new junk items in containers share drop slots with motifs and recipes; she said she'd look into it and get back to me the next day. That was over a week ago and she's been ignoring the question and tags regarding the topic ever since, so the only logical conclusion is that the answer was "yes" and confirming it would look worse than ignoring us (which is already par for the course with Zenimax). It would seem the rarer purple and Imperial motifs have become a bit rarer since v1.2.3/4. While ZOS specified they did not change the actual drop RATE of motifs, I believe there may have been a de facto change that resulted from a number of new items (e.g., the new "junk" touted as a feature of v1.2.3/4) now spawning in those same containers.

The motifs are pretty far off, but purple recipes are going for 1mil+ in game. That's not quite $150, but it's still a ridiculous amount.Maverick827 wrote: »Zenimax just wants to keep supporting the gold sellers, I guess. who would pay that much when they could buy enough gold to buy a purple motif in game for 1/20th the cost? unless the first was supposed to be purple vr5 saltrice recipe, but even daedric motifs are about $4 worth of gold the last gold spam i got.
I've gotten similar results with heavy farming, so I guess you're just really lucky.Artemiisia wrote: »with regular questing and opening everything I have gotten 9 motifs in 2 days

Why wouldn't you relog farm? There's no circuit such that travel time is shorter than relog time.purple-magicb16_ESO wrote: »Only real way to find any motifs now is to farm them by relogging. This just comes off as a complaint. This might not apply to you, but this "relogging" [snip] seems to come from the people that just have bad luck and haven't found many.
I farm constantly and have found about 40 Daedric and Ancient Elf motifs, but I have never done it by relogging. Doing a little research and testing will allow you to farm the correct areas without having to relog.
To answer the OP... the drop rate does seem to have dropped slightly. I think that it actually dropped in the patch before all the junk weapons and armor were added, so I'd bet that there were 2 "nerfs".

maybe like 2 green food recipes
before patch, i'd already have at least 1
i know they changed the colors, but i thought that's all they 'updated' was the color, not the actual drop chance behind it
anyone else having problems finding PURPLE motifs?

How is it any more boring than farming without relogging?Because it's boring?Maverick827 wrote: »Why wouldn't you relog farm?
I got 3 crafting toons and each one of them already knows all motifs.
Whenever i find one now, i just drop it into the guild bank for someone else to use.
It isn't. I don't farm for motifs, i find them while playing ...Maverick827 wrote: »How is it any more boring than farming without relogging?Because it's boring?Maverick827 wrote: »Why wouldn't you relog farm?
