i get warned for simply quoting someone elses post?

i got an official warning for quoting someone elses post into another thread. As i thought it worthy. I received an offical warning for this.

now if they supply a quote button specifically to enable us to do just that. I was assuming if the guys original post was deemed acceptable (otherwise why diidn't the moderators take it down) then it was logically ok to quote it in another thread..

i would like some clarification of what i violated exactly by simply using the quote function correctly

edit: And if you really dont know what text you repeated was wrong, how are we supposed to know?

you dont see this as a problem. ? what if you quoted me and got warned? surely you would feel that was insane. as they have added the quote button for just that purpose.

well thats hardly my fault is it? surely we are obviously going to assume if its there and not removed it's been deemed ok and quoting it should therefore also be ok

Someone would have reported you which would have caused the moderators to look at your post. Unless your post was entirely a re-quote (so might fall foul of spam rules) it's more likely it was some other aspect of your post that prompted the warning.
