FPS/LAG Fix - Tested in Cyrodiil

My machine is a bit of a beast. Not a ridiculous titan sli setup or anything, but specifically setup for gaming.

I5-3330 (specifically chosen over the 4440 for max single core speed and operating temp), ASUS gtx 760 OCII 2 gb video card, 8 gb ram (because more is just a waste most of the time), samsung evo 840 SSD as the main system drive with RAPID enabled, and a 1 ms response time 24" ASUS monitor.
Bonus: Razer Naga 2014 edition with a Razer Tartarus (mini left hand side gaming keyboard).

My system should never "grunt" under the load provided by ESO, but screwy "grunts" do actually happen. So figuring them out, and getting optimizations pushed forward is one of my primary concerns.

GPU and CPU usage and load are "interesting" in ESO, to say the least.

clearly its something with the sound system that they have broken...

Playing BF4 until they fix FPS issue. At least, I have 80 FPS here at High settings...

Thanks for the audio tip! I tried it, got my group together and tested it, and for the first time this week my weapon swapped when triggered. I was missing some of the story so I zeroed everything but dialogue. Certainly not a permanent fix, but maybe I can play this weekend with mobs I can see, and abilities that activate when triggered! Thank you!!

clearly its something with the sound system that they have broken...

I noticed something was off with the sound when every time I went to a different area I had soft freezes ranging from 5 to 30 seconds until the new sound for the area I was in loaded. Playing on the line of areas, especially during combat, was outright hell and usually resulted in numerous unfired attacks and my sure death.

Correct, even at 1.2.2 GPU and CPU usage were horribly low. Search my post history for a lot of details on this subject.

ESO engine is not using the CPU and GPU resources effectively at all.

i really hope it works, your video is just terrible. i am lucky by compairison with the FPS issue.

Ok, I have 50+ addons.
When I logging in Cyro I have usually 45 FPS. I've turned off all addons (renamed Addon folder and reloaded UI) and my FPS was raised to 80. "WOW!" I think and rushed to battle immediately

Yes, my FPS was bearable (30+) a bit more time than with all addons, but then it dropped to 8-10 too.

So, addons decreasing FPS, but Cyrodiil FPS issue do not related on addons. Approved.
I think, this is memory leaks or so.

Also, addons must not lower FPS so drastically! I can agree with 10-20 FPS decreasing, but in TWO times? I have good computer, my CPU not loaded even at half! So, this is bad optimization in the UI too.

and I've tested it several times. Just staying at starting area of my Alliance: all addons - 45-50 FPS, no any addons - 80-100 FPS. WTF?

Upd: Also I've found most decreasing FPS addon: ZrMiniMap. Without it I have +30 FPS!

I play a sorcerer on 2 different PCs and I suffer from severe frame rate issues only on one of those PCs.

1: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, 8 GB RAM, HD 5850 2GB, Gigabyte mainboard - this is my old PC which I gave to my spouse when I bought a new PC and this is the PC I have severe fps issues with (2 - 17 fps depending on where I am and what is going on around my avatar)

2: i7 3820, 8 GB RAM, HD 7850 2GB, Gigayte mainboard - with this PC I do not experience any frame rate issues I am aware of: 30 fps in heavy Cyrodiil fighting up to 50 while questing with occasional spikes to 100 fps

Mind you, I only have 1 character, so it cannot directly relate to what class I play or what ESO content I play, since I play exactly the same way on both PCs: using restoration staff and destruction staff (tested both fire / lightning with no difference to be observed).

Using minimum settings does not improve my frame rate on either PC.

I'm wondering what video card people are using that have FPS problems.
I have the exact video card they recommend as the minimum and my FPS shows in the high 50's.
Of course, the scene / location and activity going on can affect that when it has more / less to display.
But since my computer with the minimum card runs a decent frame rate ( although I have not been to Cyrodil ) it makes me suspect a possible video card problem.
And, how much RAM are they running?

I'm running a Radion HD 5800 with 1Gb of video RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 6600, 6Gb Memory, Win 7 on SSD, Game on fast 64Gb memory stick, Creative X-Fi Titanium sound. 1680x1050 screen resolution.

Runs fine at full graphics settings (fps 15-30 in most areas, 50+ in delves) up to patch 1.2.2, and in patch 1.2.4 if sound is switched off. With sound on, get ability lag, effects lag, monsters not drawing, etc.

I plan to upgrade the system in the autumn, it was quite fast when it was new, but showing it's age on CPU and GPU now.

@ SilverWF: ZrMiniMap same prob here,the "round" mini map addon runs a lot faster(~10fps drop only on my pc)

Edit: tested still 2-5fps in big pvp battles with no sound
Edit2: but no sound helps,with sound ~5fps,afer turning it off ~10fps,still dropping to 2 or less fps but helps

I have 2x HD7770 video cards and 16Mb Ram so it have been more than enough to run game before last patch . ;-)
Btw. i dont use any addons so them no problem to me.

With 16 GB of RAM you should be fine. That's what I have.

Is it possible that people's FPS problems are related to their LAG problems?
Seems likely that if it isn't sending data to / from their computer fast enough and they are showing LAG that the video would not get transmitted either and they would have a low FPS.

I'm rapidly developing a hate for this game.
It works for me -- more or less but the pure mechanics of the grinding overwhelms any fun from the challenges.

Nothing but non-stop grinding and character switching trying to stash items in too small Inventories and banks. I have several alt characters I created for extra banking space but it is a real pain to switch characters.

Especially since the characters take so long to load and unload because they don't just load / unload the character but, apparently, the entire " continent " and all the details of the " continent " where the character is located.

Extremely poor programming ... that they don't keep locations in memory during a session or install them on our computer so they don't have to be downloaded every single time you switch characters or teleport to another location. I know it would take a lot more room ... but ( for me ) that would be an acceptable trade-off. I'd be happy to give the program it's own SSD drive if they would install all the locations so they didn't have to be downloaded every time i turn around.

I'm on the verge of cancelling my subscription.
They refuse to listen to people's requests for an auction house and no matter if they fix the LAG / FPS problems for people or not, without an Auction House this game will never achieve the popularity of WOW or come close to making as much money.

Sure, more is better, but I'm doing ok in the LAG / FPS situation.
Not seeing a whole lot of that, although I have indeed had LAG but I haven't noticed any FPS problem and I'm running with the video card they say is the minimum and 16 gigs of RAM. No memory problems that I can see.

~3-4h tested with no sound,pvp with 50+ppl still 1-5 fps.
if fps drops under 5fps group members/enemys getting culled until relog,to the point where you are no able to see any player

still with "no sound" better fps than with sound(~50% better),but 0.5fps or 1fps does not make a great difference in a battle ^^

2 fps in battle this afternoon. Calling it unplayable is being nice about it. I've had so much patience with this game's problems and am now rethinking my decision to stick it out.

Mate, are you serious? Did you read my previous post? How can you say " I didn't have FPS issue" if you even wasn't in the Cyrodiil?
Do you think you are smarter than we all? I have better config than their recommended configuration and I have FPS issue in the CYRODIIL. And, yes, I have 16 GB RAM, and as it was said before: you can have 64GB - it doesn't helps.
If only you would care to look at the Task Manager, so you would see what the game didn't take more than 4GB of RAM.

Zone: Cyrodiil
Position: at Spawn
Skill:Healing Springs(Restoration Staff)
Effect(on each target hit): particle system,point light source,3d sound(wrmm ^^)

use this skill once -> all 3 effects are shown
spamm this skill-> all 3 effects are shown once, then clipped until spam ends(even if it is not shown somehow the effect iss still there and clipped since the target has allready the effect)

alot effects like hots/buffs etc are clipped often since 1.2.3 patch,"no sound" removes 33%-50% of this effects
possible the effects get not removed and stack on the players(1 skill hitting 6 targets with 3 effects -> 18 effects per skill). this way the player nodes could get so big(player+skeleton+effects etc) so the "update" call on the players would slow the game down

only a idea how this bug could work(since "no sound" helps)

need to find a big zerg for better testing

Edit: 60min testing with big zerg battle,lowest fps 8,avg 12,best 16,after battle at spawn 16fps,still low but much better than 1fps ^^ (test was with sound on,need to test with sound off too)
