GM imposters in Auridon

I've had several GM's come in on me to help with issues and never did they wear white robes. They have always been projections, the blue see through npc types. If they type to the zone their names have been a bright gold color to show they are not the "regular players". Kind of wondering when they changed up and went to normal characters and normal chat colors. :/

I can take nothing from this other than a witch hunt; shame. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

Thank you for trying Zenimax and partner company's. No really, Hard to believe but thanks!

Yeah I would love to see them in game more. I think it's awesome they are trying to start guilds for new players. Good to know they have changed how they look cause I am use to the projection GM's. :)

Right when they started to react in-game... it makes sense. They are now trying to mix in with us and some players cry foul! Why they cry foul is beyond me.

GMs should look more unique imo.

They are pretty much just red guards with white robes. And the white robe doesn't really look unique, pretty sure you can nearly replicate it (aether robe looks pretty similar)

the smoke effect is not noticeable unless you look very close.

They should be bigger, more particle effects, and a cooler unique costume.

Perfectly reasonable behaviour on the part of the GMs IMO (being friendly = customer relations, after all), but it was also perfectly reasonable for the player to ask ZOS to confirm that they are GMs (particularly given the current warning about impersonation).

I agree that legit GM's should have different colored names. Seems like MMO 101, honestly...

Hey, everyone. Gamemaster Kathar and Gamemaster Finalorn are both legitimate ESO GMs. We hope this provides some clarification on the issue.

As always, no GM will ever ask for details pertaining to a player's account or personal information, so remaining vigilant to impostors is still very important. You can recognize in-game GMs by their white robes and smoke.

    Thank you!

Any ingame Gm should have the following as standard and this is talking from experience:
    1. Invisible Character Model.
    2. Untargetable to the player.
    3. Chat should always be a different colour (Yellow most common).
    4. Never interact with the public unless its legitimate business.

well tbh..ur wrong about number 4. my first MMO was SWG(Star Wars Galaxies) great community.GMs actually interacted with the public. got events going. hell if a player had a huge thing they wanted to do and was on a good list with the GMS he/she could inv a GM to do a bunch of stuff (summon mobs/objects..change players into other things (Krayt Dragon/Rancor/Darth Vader FTW)

ik that that time is past. but I hope that ESO/Zeni is trying to bring that back..Good Community = Good MMO = Happyness......these days kids are just too spoiled and nobody cares about other people enough to create a good strong community. that also goes with the GMs yes BUT ATLEAST THE GMs ARE ATTEMPTING TO INTERACT WITH THE PLAYERS.the players just always blame GMs for stuff that the GMs cant do anything about (except give the notes/concerns to to the DEVS (if blame is to be laid..Blame the Devs/people who think up the ideas))

IMO over 10 years....MMOs are about money. not about Community. this needs to be changed. the Player Base needs to change. The Gaming Corporations need to change....if we change. only then will our gaming experience change. if we change. well we will have a damn good community.

GM Interaction = Getting to know them for who they are = More events/Fun = Better Community = Better Gaming Experience for all

yes u may have Experience as a GM..but u must be one of those new age GMs that NEVER get to know the player base by NOT interacting with them. this new age Attitude is just what ruins MMOs. this needs to change.

    that is all (period)

I think misunderstood my point with "legitimate business".

Theres a fine line between a member of staff, helping players, interacting with them or just messing about with a group of people, also as they keep their acts fair on all players, it's fine, but when you have staff messing around ingame and tell players they cant do this or that in zone chat, you have crossed that fine line and its not professional anymore, but childish :) .

I hope this is the start of GM events! I do think they need their own colour coding and outfits so that people don't become confused. We've been warned about people impersonating GMs after all so the wariness is warranted.

Still, GM events! Please, please. :D

Blizzard actually stopped having their GM's physically appear in game years ago, due to situations like this. People would bother them, ask them to do weird things, etc. They finally just had GM's answer tickets only (they don't even whisper you anymore unless it's necessary to solve the issue).

When the company is warning us of imposters, then places a GM in-game that looks NOTHING like ANY of the GMs that have appeared before, with ZERO forum posts that authentic GMs would be appearing in-game just to sit around (which is a very, very unique action for a GM to do), it raises red flags. No one should be made to feel foolish for reporting red flags.

1: That the protean substrate that informs all denial of (1) is the Aldmeri Taint.
1: That the Prophet Most Simian demonstrated that monothought begets Proper-Life.
1: That the purpose of Proper-Life is the Expungement of the Taint.

That parts fine. Its the people saying GM's shouldn't be part of the community that I have a problem with. I'd be all cool doing a dungeon run with them. OR being in their guild.

I hope they continue to play in the game that would be awesome. I just hope they have a gold chat when they talk so they can be recognized.

I have fond memories of GM-sponsored events in other games, and I don't have any problem with GMs sitting around in-game while they are monitoring for potential problems, but I do think it's important that they can be clearly distinguished from other players while in a GM role. Of course, if they're on their own account playing from home, they should look like anyone else, but they probably shouldn't be acting like GMs at that point.

And even though "What's the problem? Maybe I can log my GM account to fix it real quick," seems reasonable, it's probably not a good idea to let the world know PlayerNameX is a GM, or you'll never get a moment's peace while gaming on your off-time.

At the very least, some notification that anyone named "Gamemaster XXX" is definitely a real GM (and behind-the-scenes coding to ensure this is true) would be nice.

It's nice to hear that GM's have been in game and that they are willing to take part in activities/set up a guild etc.

But they do need to stand out as genuine GM's, unfortunately but correctly due to scammers and exploiters etc we live in a world of mistrust and I too would have been sceptical in this situation.

Good luck to them and I hope they succeed in their endeavours.

Exclusive colored chat for GMs is essential to prevent impostors.

I agree with this, and thought this was the norm in ESO. Early on in the game when a Gamemaster made their presence known he/she was in yellow letters as was their name.

I also think recruiting for a guild by a GM poses a risk for exploiting the game.
And an unfair advantage to other players who choose not to be in a GM managed guild.
