It looks like the Launcher and eso.exe have memory leaks again.

ZOS, please check this out and see if I'm correct.

Thanks
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Is this true for mac as well? If so you can always tab out and close the launcher after the game opens, and if it is mem leaking I will start doing that. I can use the activity monitor a bit tonight to check.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

The launcher and eso.exe behaviour have been like that since launch, nothing new (if you're seeing Commit Size gradually creep up).

Mem leak never stopped for me. Im forced only run with .exe now and sometimes I still get it.

Yes, but the rate of change appears to have increased. That is why I am asking ZOS to look into it. The next time I'm in game I will fill out a bug report. I forgot to last time I was in game.

    Greetings folks!

Could you please provide more information about this? A screenshot of your task manager showing the memory used by ESO.exe & the launcher would be really helpful :)

    Thank you!

Once the game launches you can end task on the launcher. Solves at least one problem.

Yes, I know, but it doesn't solve the root problem of the memory leak.

I launch using the eso.exe so that I don't have to close the Launcher every time.

Thanks for your quick post response.

This can be verified by any of your software engineers. A screen shot of my Resource Manager is not necessary and not a good idea to post that here.

Just have them launch the Launcher and eso.exe and watch the memory usage increase over time without doing anything. Stay on the Character Generation Screen and the memory usage will increase. This should not happen if things are stable. There might be small memory changes, but not a constant increase in memory usage.

I ran a longer test and the eso.exe memory usage became stable to a reasonable level, but the Launcher still has a problem when active.

    I hope this helps.

They need their customers to do the work because they are too lazy or too cheap to do the work. They probably know about it but they just like to keep shoving out updates and new junk and don't worry about the 10 things they screw up after fixing one or two.

Yes memory leaks are back. Sitting on the character select screen watched it go from 1GB usage to 1.5 then 2GB and I wasn't doing anything.

Game crashing like a mofo this morning. Not sure what is worse. The ever decreasing FPS or the insta CTD.

I don't know much about memory leaks but I think I'm having the same issue. I can log into the game but once I hit the loading screen before character creation I get stuck there with the background music cutting in and out and my physical memory gets eaten up. I've tried waiting for about ten minutes and it doesn't do anything. Started happening after the next to last patch. The one today didn't fix it either.

If you are using win 7 you can pin exe.exe to the taskbar once it's running I only run the launcher on update days. As far as the mem leak PVP seemed to have it before Mondays "fix" now it happens in PVP and PVE so good job guys. I'm a very patient ES fanboi but this is getting ridiculous. The new lighting was not needed and goes against the low system requirements I bought into the game based on. On a positive note my dirtbikes and atvs had been feeling neglected so I took it as an excuse to get outside and enjoy some RL with the kids.

I didn't screenshot it but my ram usage steadily climbed one whole gig above it's usual of around 2-2.5g in the time it took to receive 5 raw material mails and 2 items sold clicking each one and then quitting. I only have 4g so in 10 mins or less I'd be bogged down to a crawl or crash. No launcher running just the eso.exe less than 5 minutes in elden root upstairs.

Start launcher. Click play. Log in, then watch the memory usage of the launcher continually rise. You can quit the game, leave launcher open, and memory usage still continues to rise.

I haven't seen this, but then I've got into the habit of hitting play then closing the launcher a couple of seconds later. The launcher isn't needed once the game starts to load.
  • elderscrollsb16_ESO109
Hm unsure about the launcher memory leak.

At the moment the play button is available, the launcher use around 97Mb of memory
Then the memory usage increase till it reach something between 129 & 132M At this point, it suddenly drops to ~120 /125 M
    then slowly increase again

    this scheme repeats continuously.
