Can someone from Customer Support explain the "patch Manifest error" and why it happens?

What causes this issue that (usually) is resolved by a resetting of the router and modem?

What can i do to avoid this issue in the future?

Why is it just ESO that has this issue, what is going on with the launcher that provokes it to be pissed off? (pissing me off in the process admittedly)

This issue as been around since early release, and has not gone away or seen any mention by the developers or customer service.

The help page on support for this issue has never worked, with the repair function failing 100% of the time when the error occurs for me. I am not even kidding about this... the "repair" function has NEVER worked when this issue appears
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

ESO reuses the same launcher as Star Citizen (Google patcher.dll and host.developer.log) - it's a 3rd party tool which, uh, isn't the best. Also when patches are released, they aren't always synced to all the download mirrors (launcher.bethesda.net) which leads to the versioning error.

Don't know about the router reset but I do know that if the launcher patches the game I can't either login or get past an infinite load screen, have to repair after every patch before I can play.
