Until we stop hearing forums members talk about what MMO's they've played like the OP did at the very beginning of his post, they're not gone. See, TES fans don't talk about what MMO's they played, they talk about their RPG experience. Most TES fans will care more about the lore and the role playing than they will about how to make this a better MMO (or from what I'm seeing, a clone of other MMO's). I can't wait until the MMO fans are gone, because this game is supposed to be TES, not 'let's complain about end game and subscription fees WoW'.
Not only that, but dividing this game down the middle and wishing more than half of the player base would just disappear is outlandish. It is a one way ticket to a F2P game. And as a long time (two decade) evil MMO player, let me assure you of something Mr elite TES guy.... you don't want your beloved TES game to go Free to play. Because if it does, then all the stuff you geek out on and RP with in the game will be locked behind a credit card number.
Sounds like you pulled out the 'jump to conclusions' mat with that one. TES doesn't need the MMO fanbase. It has a large enough fanbase without them. The majority of the complaints are coming from the MMO expectations, and it's pointless because they won't stay. They hop from one game to the next and complain that the game is not perfect, and then move on. TES fans stay for the lore and the role play. ESO has the lore and it just needs time for more role play and for MMO fans to get lost so the devs can focus on the real fanbase.
Any forum member who has made any statements about the game Wildstar is not going to be here for very long. I mean seriously, that's like a Jack and Dexter MMO and should not have any comparison to TES. Those are the people I'm talking about, and not just for that one game but for the players who focus on the MMO in general. They are not TES fans, and they won't be missed. Elder Scrolls has a huge fanbase, which is why I expect the console versions to do very well also since the majority of haters are from the PC MMO community.
The only person jumping to conclusions and basing their argument on assumptions is you.
TES doesn't need the MMO fanbase? LOL. You do realize that this is not a stand alone Elder Scrolls game right? This is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. You get that right?
Here is another of your assumptions, "they hop from one game to the next and complain that the game is not perfect..". You couple this with another assumption that TES fans stay for the lore and role play (is there an echo in here?). While both may have some truth to them, segregating TESO gamers is idiotic and counterproductive to promoting a healthy community.
This not a personal attack but your logic sounds like that of a younger, less experienced gamer. You are attempting to project your ideas and expectations of what this MMO should be about in the hopes that someone will agree with you.
Who are you to say who is a TES fan and who is not? Just because someone mentions another game does not invalidate their fandom of TES.
For someone who ends their post accusing someone of jumping to conclusions and basing their argument on assumptions, you sure fit the bill.
You always pretend to be some kind of psychology expert, and it's obvious that you aren't. Fail troll, don't pretend to know me. There is a difference between the MMO and TES fan. Perhaps some players like both, but in general, most lean in one direction or the other. In my opinion, MMO is a genre, not a set of rules to follow. TES is a franchise that needs to be lived up to. Anyone comparing this game to other mmo's will leave sooner than the players comparing it to TES. This is my prediction, which if don't mind giving because it seems common for members of this forum to tell everyone what will happen. And again, TES doesn't need the MMO genre fanbase. They have their own fans and can do just fine without them.
Thank you for proving me correct in my thought that you are young and inexperienced. You like to resort to personal attacks and illogical arguments when threatened while board warrioring.
My suggestion to you is...well, I don't need to say it do I. You already know what my suggestion to you is.

No chatting, no players in the veteran areas (with the exception of Craglorn), waiting at boss sites and dolmens for help that hardly ever comes, sneaking though zillions of npc mobs that are all healthier and do way more damage than my characters. It felt more and more like a solo game, just way harder.
Sadly nothing has changed.
Actually one thing has: There is now way more aggressive policing of the forums than there was before the patch. Apparently, these extremely slow monkeys can't tell the difference between symptom and disease. Someone in charge must have said "Boy, our forums are a real downer! It can't be the game, hmmm. I know, let's just make all the posts that aren't glowing vanish!"
If you're still invested in the game, it's frustrating and worrisome. If, like me, the abuse heaped on you has caused you to flip your orientation, it's just very funny. It's like watching a cat try to play the piano, or an orangutan perform an appendectomy with a hammer. It's a great big, but entertaining, mess.

Not sure what planet you live on, but on my planet most of the people that ranted and raged about ESO when it launched were RPG TES fans. Review after review, podcast after podcast, world wide nerd ragers were, and still are, freaking out about how ESO is too much of an MMO and not enough of an RPG.
Hell ZoS even went back and changed the starting zones completely because RPG fans complained there wasn't enough to do. They complained that the start islands felt like they were "on rails". They complained that they weren't able to run around and do "anything" or go "anywhere". So ZoS made the starter islands optional. They did this only to cater to disgruntled RPG TES fans that were whining and complaining about it.
Do we really need to link you some of the thousand website reviews or forum posts from TES fans that hate ESO? Really? Are you really that blind? If it wasn't for MMO fans, this game wouldn't have even got out of the gate.
ESO needs both types of fans to survive. You keep insisting that it can survive on the TES fan base alone. You keep insisting that the game would be better off if the MMO fans left.
I hate to break this to you lad, because you are clearly blinded by some kind of TES elite fanboyism, but your beloved TES fans were the first ones to jump ship.
There are a million "I wanted Skyrim online" complaints.

I was explaining this to my wife on our walk today, and what's here, and what I would definitely like to see preserved is the FEEL of the game. You pull your two-hander back, and then it swings, and it hits an enemy, and there's a WHOMP. I just feels right. Same with an uppercut. Same with a sorceror bomb spell, same with a Templar jab. The graphic hits, the sound hits, right in line with what's happening, and that's a very rare thing for even a console-triple-AAA game, let alone a PC MMO. A great job was done, and continues to be done, with the feeling of in-game physics.
Current dissastisfactions: I've played Templar and Sorc. I have a V12 (that exploited the hell out of Craglorn, in the interest of full-disclosure). Templar is GARBAGE and Sorceror is FUN AS HELL. I really do believe that the gulf between early DK/Sorc and early NB/Temp has informed most players' opinions on what the game is like. Everybody loved it to level 50. When VR hit is when people starting hitting walls, and thus got frustrated, and thus either quit or hit the forums.
We earn points and badges here...is this the meta-meta-game?
There is nothing wrong with the NB or Templar, both are incredibly good classes.
NB is actually top tier right now, and Templar is great for groups while also having the best 1v1 build in the game.
Luvsfuzzybunnies wrote: »Don't worry the game will continue, and ZoS will continue improving it and bringing out new content (not just for VR either). But all of this takes time. It seems in today's society everyone wants everything RIGHT MEOW! Unfortunately the real world doesn't work the way their fantasy world (in their head) does. ZoS has a VERY long term plan for the game, years in fact, so no worries.
Anyone that uses that meme needs a cat launched at them, pointy end first.
Right to the face.
Are you kitten me right meow?
