Definitely much less from what I spend everyday.

Drinking with friends on friday night: 120 NZD within 6 hours
    Lunch everyday: $15-$17

List can go on. This is so much cheaper for entertainment for a few hours a day.

Wow, that's a pretty good lunch, mate. My husband gets ham and peanut butter sandwiches, that he at least doesn't make himself (I get up around 3 am every day, so it just gives me something to do. I volunteered. Oh, and he's a peanut butter junkie, anyway - he'd get disappointed if I didn't include at least one pb&j. The ham is also by request, even though I always ask what kind of lunchmeat he wants before I go shopping.)

Unfortunately pretty standard cost for lunch in New Zealand. Being an American, I definitely miss my cheapies back home. I miss PB&J!!!

At the Phillies game last night I spent $20 for parking and $36 for 4 beers. Doesn't include ticket price. Spent just shy of 5 hours there.

$15/month for ANY sort of entertainment is such a bargain it blows my mind how people can complain.

For ESO value, I'm still on my first 30 days of free play time. :)

Phillies game huh? Then pop into the city and tack on a Pat's, Geno's, Lorenzo's or Jim's... Another $10 there, more if a date is with you. Then you have to factor in the additional 2-3 hours to find a parking spot in South Philly though, or you could just pay the $8 for each 30 min block.... might balance out in the end, lol.

But should one be a real sharp guy and take his woman to a afternoon matinee followed by a sensual night out to the local McD's, BK, or Wendy's.... One would have cleared more than $15 for the two of you. Filler her up with some Starbuck's afterward, as you know she's going to just going to need her crappe-frappe-Right-to-her-Thighs-Latte.... You pretty much just spent the same as the basic edition all in one magical night that I'm sure she will just remember forever.

$15 a month to play an MMO with constant updates and new content being added and worked on all the time, with expansions down the road.... It's a lot more content and also cheaper than buying a new game every two months (even 3 months). Which the rate people are completing games these days.... I'm sure most can finish a game in a lot less than 2 months. If this is the only thing you're playing, those sub fees aren't much at all.

You are assuming everyone that bought the game really enjoyed the game, but that is crazy.

Way OT, but I hear people ragging on Tyler Perry movies all the time. Have you actually watched any of them? I ask because from the ads I've always assumed that they were basically the lowest form of movies, but I've never actually watched one. I was recently reading an article about them, though, that makes me think that they're actually very different from what the ads lead you to believe. I think I may be guilty of judging a book by its cover, and I wonder how many other people are in the same boat as me on this one.

Game was $60 + 90 day subscription which was like $40 = $100 paid so far.

Added up my current 8 characters for a total of 23 days played.

    23x24 = 552 hours = 18 cents per hour played.

Now... that doesn't include the two lvl 20 characters and approx. dozen or so level 5-10 characters that I have played and deleted. (Need more slots!!)

16 days and 12 hours 24 minutes on my main, so let`s just count it as 16 and a half days, which is 396 hours on my main character, and around another 20 on my alt, so 416 hours altogether.

I bought the game on sale for prepurchase for 40 pounds (Imperial Edition) and I paid a 3 months sub which is another 24 pounds.

This is around 15 pence an hour but if we count that I have 1 month and 1 week left from my 3 month sub, then it is £0.13.

Totally worth it so far and I still don't plan on quitting.

nice way to look at the cost of buying a full price game which I am always hesitant to do due to budget, but yes.. I can say Ive gotten my money value out of the game.

365 hrs, imperial preorder + 6mths sub. still have 3 other factions to level thru even allowing for skipping craglorn, pvp, and prob vet, I still have lots of game time to enjoy

Cheaper than a one-time purchase of a non-subscription video game?

Umm I can't think of many one time purchase games that give me 400+ hours of contents.

Sure you can say sandbox games like Skyrim but those build it mod it style is not how I enjoy games. I enjoy progression.

I can. I have 3,211 hours on record in Team Fortress 2. I also bought that game as part of the Orange Box, which I got on sale for $9.99. All told, I probably spent $2 on it and i got over 3000 hours of enjoyment out of it. Granted that's the exception to the rule generally and I was good and addicted there for awhile. Still, if it had a subscription I gladly would have paid it and considered it money well spent.

Hours played at last check: 369 (I've had more time played since then, but we'll go with this number for the sake of ease).

    Cost of game: $120.00
Cost of 60 days subscription: $30.00
    Total: $150.00

    Cost divided by hours:
    150/369 = 0.40 - 40c per hour

Alternatively, with just the cost of subscription:
    30/369 = 0.08 ~ 8c per hour.

The only piece of hardware I bought specifically for this game, was a bigger hard drive (something I needed to upgrade anyway, considering my last one was going on 7 years old). As the HDD costed about $120.00, adding that to the first amount equals $270.00. Divided by hours played, is about 73c per hour.

Nothing I take interest in, not even reading books, has been this cheap. The average price I pay for a paperback is $12.00 (ignoring shipping costs) and they entertain me for 4-6 hours depending on the length of the book. At best, that's $2.00 per hour for something I probably won't read again within the next year.

All in all, I'm enjoying the game, and I find the cost per hour to be a fair deal.

Include the cost of the pc if the game is the only use of the pc.

Use it for internet? Use it for watching streaming video? Use it for something boring like doing your taxes? Banking?

How much would other devices cost you if you had to have a separate one for each task you use a pc for? Even the consoles aren't always used only for gaming.

Let's see. I've played 187 hours total across six characters. Bought a physical box IE for $100. I have a six month subscription, but only used 2 months of that so far, which works out to say $26.

So that works out to around $0.67 per hour for ESO. (Pretty sure I spent more than that in the arcade per hour two decades ago.)

According to Steam I put 164 hours into Skyrim. That's $0.36 per hour, although I did build a new gaming PC specifically for that game plus Arkham City and Portal 2. I didn't make any upgrades for ESO. And speaking of Steam, I spent $20 total for several games during the summer sale. I've played 21 minutes of a single game so far. So if I do the math, the Steam Summer Sale so far is costing me $ 57.14 per hour?! WTF! :cold_sweat:

I'm not really sure what OP is trying to figure out here. Playing the game more increases your "economy" but has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of time played.

Asking people to post their total play time would be a much more interesting question.

As for the topic on hand...
ESO game time currently = 622 hours total
    Digital Imperial + coupon = $70
    2 months subscription = $30

    Cost divided by hours
    100/622 = 16 cents per hour!

And speaking of lunch, I just spent about $80 on a 15 lb bag of cat food.

My cat is allergic to grain, see - the regular store brands make her puke all over the place - more than usual for a cat, anyway. So she gets a brand that's grain-free, and made with regional products, from a company based in my province, with a feed mill right here in my city. The food is so g-d fresh, I couldn't even slump it over my bike rack, and I don't have to worry about adulteration due to bad/sloppy practices in foreign countries.

But 15 lbs feeds my one cat for 4-5 months. So her food bill for the next few months will be between $15-20 per month. Not bad upkeep for a mammalian pet. And pretty much equal to the monthly sub here.

This kind of maths ruins the fun for me. The game is worth what I paid if I enjoy it, it's not worth what I paid if I don't enjoy it. Any further break down of the cost is pointless.

@SystemiK‌ Now that I think about it I did buy two paints once b/c a good friend wanted matching hats. I think they cost $0.99 each. That was the only thing I ever bought from the MannCo Store though. I just relied on drops, crafting, and trading for everything. I never cared about the hats really.
