List can go on. This is so much cheaper for entertainment for a few hours a day.
Wow, that's a pretty good lunch, mate. My husband gets ham and peanut butter sandwiches, that he at least doesn't make himself (I get up around 3 am every day, so it just gives me something to do. I volunteered. Oh, and he's a peanut butter junkie, anyway - he'd get disappointed if I didn't include at least one pb&j. The ham is also by request, even though I always ask what kind of lunchmeat he wants before I go shopping.)

$15/month for ANY sort of entertainment is such a bargain it blows my mind how people can complain.
For ESO value, I'm still on my first 30 days of free play time.

Way OT, but I hear people ragging on Tyler Perry movies all the time. Have you actually watched any of them? I ask because from the ads I've always assumed that they were basically the lowest form of movies, but I've never actually watched one. I was recently reading an article about them, though, that makes me think that they're actually very different from what the ads lead you to believe. I think I may be guilty of judging a book by its cover, and I wonder how many other people are in the same boat as me on this one.MrDenimChicken wrote: »you can't equate seeing a great movie for $12 and a *** tyler perry movie for $12. Umm I can't think of many one time purchase games that give me 400+ hours of contents.
Sure you can say sandbox games like Skyrim but those build it mod it style is not how I enjoy games. I enjoy progression.

I can. I have 3,211 hours on record in Team Fortress 2. I also bought that game as part of the Orange Box, which I got on sale for $9.99. All told, I probably spent $2 on it and i got over 3000 hours of enjoyment out of it. Granted that's the exception to the rule generally and I was good and addicted there for awhile. Still, if it had a subscription I gladly would have paid it and considered it money well spent.

That, is value...
Also The cost of the pc itself should be included in the sums as that is part of the cost of the entertainment too.

I'm not really sure what OP is trying to figure out here. Playing the game more increases your "economy" but has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of time played.I only care that my dollars spent per hour played is reasonable.
I didn't know about this. Thx ;D(type /played in the chat window for each of your toons to get this info).

...And speaking of Steam, I spent $20 total for several games during the summer sale. I've played 21 minutes of a single game so far. So if I do the math, the Steam Summer Sale so far is costing me $ 57.14 per hour?! WTF!

Gamer's often talk about the value of games but I rarely see them take the time to break their game costs out into cost per hour. I like to use this as an indicator of value in my games. I don't actually care if a game has a sub or not, it's irrelevant to me. I only care that my dollars spent per hour played is reasonable.
It's a simple calculation...add up the the cost of your game plus your subscription fees paid, and then divide that by the number of hours you have played (type /played in the chat window for each of your toons to get this info).
In my case, it works out 19 cents for every hour that I've played ESO. Not a bad deal as far as entertainment value goes. Try that calculation on a trip to the theater or a night out on the town sometime.

This kind of maths ruins the fun for me. The game is worth what I paid if I enjoy it, it's not worth what I paid if I don't enjoy it. Any further break down of the cost is pointless.

@nudel
Wow...that works out to .0006 cents per hour! That's some serious entertainment value...did you ever spend any extra at the game store buying hats, keys or whatever?
