Extra day of game time on account of 1.2.3 downtime?

Pretty sure a 10 business-hour downtime (not including how long it takes to download basically an entire game worth of data) should warrant a free day of game time for everyone. I'm not holding my breath on there not being an emergency downtime to push a hotfix in the works tonight either.

And don't quote the EULA or the TOS to me; we got two distinct "oh crap, this is actually going to take a lot longer than we anticipated" updates from the PR brass.

Do us all a solid and right this particular wrong.

Make sure you don't go on a vacation, or don't go into work, or class, or whatever part of life you are at this moment. Because all that time you are doing stuff besides playing the game should probably be given back to ESO in the form of money. Its not like they're charging us by the minute that we play. Its a monthly fee and we are free to play as much or as little as we can.

No you are not. You agreed to the tos an EULA. Therefore you agreed your rights away. Don't like it? Cry a little more.

    Have you played other MMOs?

ESO server maintenance downtime is really pretty reasonable.

Wow, did I just praise Zenimax?

I'm a Templar still fuming from Beta and three months subscription revenue without sustained DPS and resource mechanic balance for all classes.

I think you are confusing the "what we all have a right to under the terms of use of the game we pay to play" and the "what the right thing for the game provider to do in this particular instance".

I'm a veteran MMO player. Straw Man and Ad Hominem arguments do not work on me. Only money.

The amount of work they are pouring into this game for YOU and you want to be compensated for 1 day? How they keep from deleting various players is beyond me.

They will probably give game time credit. They shouldn't, but they will. And then you'll believe that posting this thread was what made it happen, and there will be more threads like it next time people are upset about some unbelievably unimportant thing.

I'm an old school MMO player and I'm used to the down time. This is pretty mild compared to other games I've played.. What I'm so surprised about is the enormity of the downloads. 4gigs? For a patch like this? I'm not sure if I should be pleased that it takes so much data because the game requires that much or scared that if they ever do a big content upgrade I'll be sitting for a whole day overflowing my 2 TB of hard drive space.

Now the question I must ask, and I am seriously surprised none of my fellow intellectuals asked is:

Who's definition of "business hours" are you using?

If you are using the typical "business hours" meaning the time when most humans are at their job and they don't have the physical ability to play a video game, then they sure as hell should be taking the servers down at that time, since most of their player base will be unable to play.

If you are using some other sort of "business hours" definition, then please tell me what that is so I correctly and intelligently discuss issues with you.

    Thank you.

I am using the "days in which banking institutions in the State of New York and [state location of Zenimax Online principal office] are open, other than Saturdays, Sundays and U.S. federal banking holidays" definition, which I believe is close to the standard formulation (give or take a couple variances because I'm remembering it off the top of my head).

But, if we are being super strict about it, I suppose we should use the definition, if any, in the ESO EULA or TOS (as applicable). If none exists, then we use the Miriam Webster definition.

Right. So the game was down for precisely 0.5 non-business hours on the East Coast (1 hour Central, 2 hours Mountain, 3 Pacific if you're counting the wee hours of the morning as potential playtime).

Yes. As with every single piece of non-open-code software ever made, you have to agree to the EULA to actually use it. If you don't like it, write your congressman.

If it was the entitlement babies circle jerk we would be hearing complaints about how the other half of the circle had an unfair advantage and they should receive compensation.
