Or maybe they wanna escape from "Take down that robe! That's their caster right there!" and are sick of the limited costumes?

Or maybe they don't want to play a female character who is forced to wear a dress? :)
I sense heresy here. female characters are meant to wear dresses and look feminine! the way Ancestors want it: covered body with rich materials! exquisite and noble!

Imagine, superiorly bred Altmer womer wearing pants. ha! you can not imagine it, it is unthinkable! thought alone is a mortal sin! and we do not like mortality here.

mer on the other hand may wear both robes and pants.

    /
on the other hand, they give an option to craft jerkins but they could not fix missing hair colour for Altmer: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/110900/altmer-missing-hair-colour#latest

Snobbish elves. That's one of the reasons why this one escapes from the Dominion. You may have fooled this one's race, but this one knows the elves played with the moons.

Hm, so what do we need next? Mini skirts, high heels, perhaps other crafting options for headgear like crowns, hair sticks... rabbit ears? I mean, dont get me wrong, its ok that they included this, its just... ah whatever. ^^

But you know, thinking it over, why not make a costume creator for light/med. crafting skill line? Blacksmithing gets jewellery and woodworking... well they are allowed to craft items for player houses as soon as this feature comes. xD

By the way, who said anything about dyeing already, didnt read about that in the pt notes. ^^

    Quick Question if anyone knows:

Do I have to research the traits for the Jerkins separately or is it a Robe or Jerkin selection dealio?

I would assume it's under light armour. Since it's labeled as Light Armour.

Yes I know it's light armor, what I am saying is it a separate light armor item that will have to have all 8 traits researched as well as the robe having it's own 8 to research?

I see what you're asking I had the same question and hope it pulls all the research from my chest (light armor) stats when implemented. Honestly it should just be a check box...shirt, jerkin, robe. But that would make too much sense.

    womer!
do not even dare to put MAN there. erased they must be!

it is only natural that lesser races get fooled. even such disfigured mer as khajiit know the true might of the Thalmor!

now wear your jerkin and enjoy more customisation options (I like it)

Light jerkins are there so the teen male population who want to play scantily-clad female Sorcs no longer have to wear Medium to do so, it serves no other useful purpose as far as I see it.

I'm not a teen, and I wanted them so I could get out of that damn dress. Not too bothered about the female characters in light clothing, the Barbaric Heavy/Medium is for that.

It's the tops mostly. But I've seen toons running around with just a top on and maybe the bottoms from another set. The combination creates a kind of rawhide swimsuit ... :)

If it was open at the front, I would call them robes and feel they were right, but lets face facts here it's a dress, it covers the legs completely, and wouldn't look out of place in a fancy dress shop as "Sorceress's dress".

because it is a reinforced kind of robes, with leather jerkin for the battle/utility sake. it is normal for a robe to cover legs, in fact it should be even longer and get under your shoes. huge, long and loose! [but engine limits]
well, of course it would not, if you talk about modern western clothing style and its degraded sense of fashion encased in the suit since the great regression of XIX century.
ESO's robes are fine, they are something that I would put on myself with pleasure.

Jerkins are an indispensible everyday clothing used by warriors and common folk. weather worn under mail or worn by themselves it is better to enter a melee with a good jerkin and breeches than in any robe. sure it's a fantasy game so robes are fine but give those of us who think practicle the chance to dress practically. A big Huzzah for the jerkin! The adventuring wizard and the fighting squire as well as the well prepared merchant can travel in style and safety now. what's to complain about?

In the mages guild, the robe is decent and it shows the respect that you have for the place and occasion.

In the Dark Brotherhood, it conceals your identity and flaunts the rank of Black Hand or Listener. Why wear anything protective when you're protected by your servants and are no longer required to carry out contracts?

It could also be perceived as one having the ability to dispose off the enemy before there's any harm to one's body.

Let's face it, truth is, it's simply a man dress that doesn't befit the war, the dungeons or the hostile VR environment. There's a time and place for everything, and robe is not suitable on the battlefield.

How I wish there's only one armour skill line and people can wear whatever they want and simply gain the advantages from the guild trees and enchants.

one should never forget about mystical properties of the robes! it is a weaving bigger than tradition!

they are perfctly fine for the battlefield and dungeons. it is not a wizard's role to mud his hands. magic is everything.

but yes, ultimately there should be only one kind of armor
