Game randomly diables my keyboard

I have been having an annoying issue for a while. My character would explore on his merry way and all of a sudden be unable to move at all. I can still use LMB and RMB to attack and block, but cannot move at all with WSAD.

In the beginning I thought it was an issue with the game glitching out and stuff. It fixes itself every time for about 10 minutes every time I restart the game. But it comes back again really quickly. So, when I got extremely tired of this unable to move problem I wanted to send in a bug report. However, it is then I realized that I cannot type at all when my character is stuck. Thus I draw the conclusion that the game disables part of my keyboard when this happens. But I can still use my ESC button. When I tab out of the game I can still type out side of the game in a word file or something. Just not in game.

Anyone having a similar issue?

Yes, sometimes the right Ctrl key I use for sneaking turns off; other keys will be fine. I kept thinking my keyboard was going, but tabbing out and trying it with other applications shows it's not the keyboard.

I figured out what was causing this for me last night. If I am using a heavy attack with resto staff and get knocked down when I get up again I can't walk again unless I hold down the attack button again. As soon as I let go of the attack button I can no longer move using keyboard. I tried many things to fix it but it only went away after I died.

This one has a similar problem, noticed on various computers. While submitting bugs, certain letters won't respond by typing, unless you are holding those keys down for a prolonged time. Quite annoying and only during bug submission the problem occurs, so hardware or other issue should be counted out, yes?

There are ways to hook into all Keydown events on Windows Level. Both with legal (shortkey programm) and illegal (Keylogger) intents.
If somebody made a code that runs too long for certain keys in certain configurations this could easily cause the problems you describe.

Do these different computers have anything in common (same network, no virus protection, similar setup/admin?

Mine occurs whenever the game feels like getting me stuck.....so I'm not sure?

Do any of you use logitech devices? The universal logitech driver tend to conflict with ESO and it can really mess up your system to use a logitech mouse or keyboard with ESO.

In my case ESO made my logitech driver turn my mouse into a keyboard which then made my keyboard unresponsive or even faulty.

When I removed the logitech driver and got me a ROG mouse instead all the problems went away.

I'm playing on a laptop with a non-logitech mouse. So I don't think that's the issue.

Having the same issue and usually in vet dungeon during boss fight ....really annoying. But it sound to me that the matter could be being stun while doing a heavy resto staff attack .

Microsoft mouse, never installed any special drivers. The keyboard came with the machine (Hewlett-Packard).

Will probably be getting some sort of gaming mouse next week, but the one I kind of had in mind was a Logitech ....

Sometimes blocking will turn on my stealth, totally silly, but it hasn't gotten me killed yet. That's the only keyboard related problem I have, well mouse related technically.

I happened to me yesterday. Only the movement keys were disabled, I could still cast spells or roll dodge (action bound to another key, not WSAD). I never had this problem earlier, but I did have a more common one: disabled E and Z keys.

I use a Logitech mouse. I really hope it's not the drivers... I'm not going to buy another gaming mouse. It wouldn't be worth it anyway, it happened only 3-4 times so it's not the end of the world.

Similar issue, only affecting the WSAD keys though... I can still sneak, I can still use my spells (even bolt around the place), but just can't move.

Only happened twice so far, once in Craglorn and once during keep take over (of course, perfect timing)

Had to re-log both times. (Somehow I managed to bolt away and hide in Cyrodiil...)

Interesting. I just started using Fire Rune two days ago. I'll test it if it happens again.

I don't have fire rune on my active bar at all though. And I'm getting it during just normal walking around without combat too.

It happened to me the other night and I do not use fire rune. I do have a Logitech mouse and keyboard, so hmm. I was just in a normal fight and lost all control. I use my middle mouse button for sneak on nightblade, and that was the first to go unresponsive, then everything.

I had the opposite today. If I used A or D, or cast a spell, I started moving forwards. Wasn't a stuck key, as I had to take an action before it started. Was very odd.

I have this issue as well with my DK and NB. I use a logitech keyboard and mouse but I am using all game default keys. I only use r and l mbuttons and wsad and other default movement keys on the keyboard. I only started having these kinds of issues after 1.1.2. There is a known bug where the 1-5 keys don't work at all, which I have, after 1.1.2 so maybe this is related as well.

I have also had this issue recently, but only 2-3 times.
I run a Razer Naga 2014, a Razer Tartarus, and the Razer Synapse 2.0 software to manage the the keybinds.
I initially thought that it was the Synapse software causing issues.
However, my keyboard was also affected, and I do not have this problem in other games, nor any other uses of the Naga, Tartarus, or keyboard.

This seems to be worthy of investigation by ZOS.

Same problem occasionally,combat controls, started after last patch. Have to try
and run like Usain Bolt to survive.

I was going to create a new thread, but seems this one may be the place to post.

I may have the same issue as Darzil here. When running along, if I use W and either of the S, A, D keys at the same time, I keep running and cannot stop. I have to sort of mash the other movement keys to stop running.

So far this has not happened in a dungeon or instance, only outside.

Ah yes the constant running bug. That one hit me after 1.1.2 as well. I have run off cliffs and died and run into massive mobs of unfriendly and could not fight.

Ahhhhh..... I am kind of glad to hear that it is not just me getting this, was worried I had dropped jam into my new keyboard or something

I know this is an old thread, but I havent found anything else that comes close to the same problem im having

Ill be walking holding down "w" and then randomly stop, until i release the key and press again, this happens every few meters in game, i can auto run with no problems, but that isnt a viable option in trials.
I too am using a Logitech keyboard but a diff mouse.

Also, out of all the games I play requiring WASD eso is the only one to have this issue
