Launcher broken - LF tips to fix

Loose_Cannon
My launcher keeps repeating the update process. When it finishes, the launcher starts to "verify" and "check download", then goes back to starting over.

I tried canceling, repairing and a full restart on my computer.
We have contacted our Customer support team to help you solve your issue.

i had a launcher problem awhile back it wouldnt download anything and was all glitchy not sure if this will help your problem but here is how i fixed mine tryit. it wont do anything bad to your system.

press start type CMD right click CMD.exe and click run as admin when the black box opens type--- ipconfig /flushdns ---- then press enter and restart the launcher.

also before u do that u might want to do a repair to your game u do this in the launcher itself. u might also want to redownload the launcher from the website and install it it will overwrite the launcher and possible fix ur issue.

Thanks TST for doing what ESO should be doing. I and many others will try this work around.

Has ESO acknowledged that there launcher is junk and it needs a fix? Wouldn't this be a good place to start as a provider of services they have sold ?

it's not exactly a launcher problem. Has more to do with your computer profile settings and how you installed eso.

If the client doesn't have permission to refresh the dns, it can't establish a connection.

alternatively to what tst said, you could also right click on the game shortcut and select "run as administrator". that will allow the game do what tst suggested doing manually.

If this is the case, how is it that for a month of gaming my launcher worked fine, now it refuses to...launch? I haven changed any settings. Running as administrator makes no difference. A reinstall didn't help either.

Thx for the tips. I do know about flushing DNS, and I do it on occasion. That wasn't the problem. The launcher was stuck in an endless loop.

The way I fixed it was to bypass the launcher entirely. I'll copy the folder to here when I get home from work.

Please do. The endless loop launcher is killing me. I'm about ready to quit the game.

The endless loop launcher sounds like a manifest issue. It's not reading the right version, perhaps?

In \The Elder Scrolls Online\depot\_databuild, what does the databuild.stamp say?

There is nothing inside that folder (The Elder Scrolls Online)....just an empty folder.

Where's your install folder? or at least the directory of your launcher. If you go up one from your directory's launcher, then you should see it.

There are only two folders installed so far; Launcher folder and Uninstall Folder. The launcher isn't launching anything.

Okay, how about the host.developer file in the launcher directory?

    I attached it.

Sorry guys I forgot to post the folder yesterday. I will certainly do it in about 4 hrs. I made a new shortcut to the application exe file, and it bypasses launcher altogether and puts you at login screen in game.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

Just right click, create shortcut and viola! After I got into the game, the launcher has been acting normal.
