Army of Meridia - another issue

Hello all,

I searched the forums, but I noticed that everybody whose Army of Meridia quest is bugged, has a different issue. Mine has not been adressed yet.

So, I started out in coldharbour, went to the groundkeeper, who gave me the quest. then i continued to go westwards to free the king. since the very beginning of the quest the door in hollow city leading to the chasm was locked, as was the door to the mage's district.

I finished the king objective, he now resides happily in my guild hall, and then I wanted to continue to the "rescue vanus..." objective - which i cant, since the door to the chasm or to the guild hall wont unlock. so the only area available to me is the area west of hollow city, in which i have done every quest, dungeon, boss, etc. but i cant make any progress.

I abandon the quest, the groundkeeper respawns in front of the chapel of light, i take on the quest, and already in the dialog screen, the groundkeeper disappears. i get the quest objective "rescue king..." right away, since im done with it. i found the groundkeeper standing in front of the fighter's guild hall with a quest marker above her head, but the dialog does not trigger anything. my remaining objectives are "rescue vanus..." and "restore the hollow city", but i'm stuck in hollow city, since the doors to The Chasm and to the Mage's Guild District are still locked. so i can either run around hollow city or go west. this has been my game routine for the last 3-4 weeks now. so much fun!

I contacted customer support, who gave me bulls*** solutions like "you have to go north to rescue vanus" (well, duh) or "did you try /reloadui or abandon quest?", they also send me a guide how to do the quest - seriously, this level of support is very very sad. what is even more sad, that i only get one response from customer support every other week, and most of the times, i have to submit a new ticket to remind them of the issue.. (Army of Meridia is my only available quest)

so community, has anybody the same problem with the quest? or even better, has anyone a solution? also, please make some noise to let the admins know that the quest needs fixing.

PS: i also have 4/5 meridia's lights, but i think that's another story.. or is it?

Okay, there was another post like this, and I responded to it as well, but here goes:

Rescue Vanus. Do it, do it now. He needs your help and might possibly be in danger. Don't go towards the chasm, or to the mage's guild, but instead look at your map. You're trying to leave town going east, so mark the exit on your map. The proper way out is open by default, so look--I actually rescued Vanus first after initially talking to the Groundskeeper. Either way, when you get outside of town, go east like your life depends on it. You've spent 3-4 weeks not going east, and today is the day you save Vanus' life like the true hero of Tamriel you are. Now go, save that mer.

It's funny. I was looking all over for Vanus and found him two times but the quest was not the one I was looking for. Found him near the orchard and then again near the reaver's wayshrine. I've completed almost all other quests in coldharbour including doing 3 public dungeons and I don't know how many boss zones.

edit: I'm unclear on which quest is the one. No arrows exist and the Npcs are not indicating how I complete the task.

You need 2 lights in order to free the King, the 5/5 lights is simply for an achievement, I personally have never got beyond 3/5 as far as I can recall on the three characters I've run through Coldharbour until now.

As for your main problem, you have to rescue Vanus BEFORE access to the Chasm is unlocked. He's in the eastern part of the lower half of Coldharbour as @Sidereal explains.

If you look at the map you'll see an area of lava far to the east which is where the Black Forge is, that's where you'll find him.

My girlfriend had this issue. It's a new bug. Rescue Vanus. There's no quest marker for it now (that's the bug), but you need to head east along the path, as far as it goes.

It didn't occur to me there should be a marker, I just went and explored were the NPC vaguely referred to. But then most of my quests came from exploration rather than following the theme-park rides.

In this case his projection is standing by the lava pools with the marker over his head.

I finally looked the information up this morning and found him. The quest marker didn't show up at first and then as I went through the quest, the marker remained black. (suppose to be white for current quest)

It does go white for the current quest, it did for me, but you need to select it specifically as this is part of the meta-quest to release the King and Vanus and that's the quest that remains 'current' unless you change it.

I love this post! I did just that, went east the whole time feeling like an idiot, thinking I couldn't go that way b4 cuz it was just the way out or something, LOL! What a bone head! Hahahaha!!!! I finished the Chasm and I'm almost done with the whole line. What Fun!! I don't think I ever completed this quest line completely before. It's a good one, I thoroughly enjoyed it. All of it. And that's not so easy to say about some lines. Thanks for the great advice just when I needed it most. It was extremely appreciated and deserved the Awesome rating I gave it :-)
