My boyfriend and I, during beta, decided that at launch we would play through the game together. This was fine for a while - a few bugs here and there, like him deleting his character because of how short it was (and forgetting to resize him during the creation of his new character) after claiming his preorder gifts and not putting them in the bank. So we had to wait about a week to do the Pledge of Mara. That's fine, we didn't mind much. We got through, slowly, the game up to VR1 and took on Molag Bal.

He couldn't kill Molag Bal because one of the earlier bugs involving Molag Bal not being killable (something about not letting him cut him in half). That finally gets fixed (after his ticket was elevated several times and even the community manager took notice) and they have a GM come ingame to respawn Molag Bal for him. That's great. So he attempted to kill Molag Bal again two days ago, one month after we initially hit VR1. It's been a whole month since I've played this game because I'm not advancing without him as per our agreement to play through the game together.

Now, his second attempt to kill Molag Bal. He kills him with ease. He got to the loading screen. Crash. Logs in? Molag Bal fight again. Kills him again. Crash. Repeat. He created a ticket for this one too. Escalated. He got a reply... "We do not give items back due to rollbacks". What? Did you even read the ticket? He even included the crash report!

Long story short, I'm getting tired of the bugs in the game hindering our progress, and then even worse the quality of customer support hindering our progress of finding bugs which hinder our progress. It's basically an infinite loop of bugs and then trying to get CS to understand the bug for a month. We have been playing since before launch (5 days early access) and are still veteran rank 1 because of this.

Seems like a lot of people are getting completely unrelated, off-the-wall responses from CS here lately. I'm wondering if it's going to some automated system instead of to a real CS rep.

Or maybe ZoS is trying to save money by outsourcing their CS emails to the cheapest country.

CS tend to lazily skim through tickets and then reply without actually understanding what the issue is... It can definitely be frustrating.

Unfortunately, you need to keep harassing them in order to get any follow through... or, until you find that CS Staffer who actually cares.

Yeah, how about an apology for the inadequacies of the previous reps and stating you'll do all you can to get this issue resolved for the client. You know, basic customer service 101. ***.

I was locked out for 5 days with the timeout/301 bug. All I got from CS was a survey when I cancelled my account within an hour. My reply to CS took 3 days for them to respond to. My account is still cancelled until they can prove to me that they deserve my money.

I wouldn't hold your breath. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and that includes horrid places like WalMart.

The CS for this game is the worst I've ever seen. It's also the highest premium MMO subscription.

Quest bugs are often resolved simply by abandoning the quest, logging out, and restarting the game client. Note that in some cases, you may want to wait 10-15 minutes before retaking the quest.

Which... you should know that. It's pretty standard truth across all mmos.

Unfortunately, that frequently doesn't work with this game.

I don't know if you actually read my original post, but it crashes every time he gets to the Meridia loading screen.

EDIT: In addition, if you've been following the other bugs with the Molag Bal fight, you would know that very few people are successful in working around the bug by abandoning the quest and logging out.

Yes, of course I read the post. The rule still applies. You can absolutely encounter a bug created by environment variables, and it will repeat every time a player repeats the event.

specifically abandoning the quest, then retaking it, usually clears those variables. To my surprise, and more common than not, players aren't aware of this fact. So that's why I brought it up. Just wanted to check if he's specifically tried to abandon the quest :)

Your partner wasn't a Nightblade by any chance was he? Because Nightblades had a Molag Baal bug where they crashed repeatedly on the cutscene where you cut him in half/decap him and had to repeat -> get stuck in an infinite molag Baal crash loop.

Couple of my friends quit because they couldn't get past this mess.

    I feel your pain.

Use in-game /bug and /feedback to elevate problems initially further up or into ZOS then the basic phone support...but also do the email or phone support because it just feels good talking about all the problems and frustrations.

Still in the process of being resolved, though now that it's been mentioned how bad the support has been so far we do seem to be getting a lot more attention in our tickets.

    Nope, Dragonknight.

Sorry if I came across as rude - I thought I mentioned that he did indeed abandon the quest but I double-checked and I did not. Yeah, he's now on his fifth time doing this quest.

Update: As of last night, this issue is resolved and after about a month and a half my boyfriend and I can finally progress with the game.

    Fun facts:
-He did the Molag Bal boss fight quest 6 times and killed Molag Bal 5 times.
-He died 20 times the first time he did the quest and 0 the next 4 times.
-He completed the quest last time with a GM watching him and the GM said, "Wait, hold on." just before he killed Molag Bal. Then he disappeared for a few seconds. He gave him the go-ahead to kill Bal and suddenly the load screen worked! Except we think that the GM crashed.

Wow...you have the patience of an angel, OP o.O I'd have quit by now. Worst I had was stuck for a week in Bangkorai with broken main quest and I was seriously considering quitting by the end of it.
Anyway, very glad it finally got resolved. I hope it'll be a while before you encounter your next game breaking bug(I'd say "never" but I know by now this just won't be true) ;)
