Armour changing

When I am on the character select screen a character has a set of armour that I crafted.
Once I select the character and start playing, his armour appears completely different.
In the characer select screen his armour is all steely looking but in the game it is brownish colored and does not look anything like the armour in the character select screen.
Is this normal or is something hosed?

If I wanted a Signature I would have a Signature --- but i don't want one so I don't have one.
