Veteran Levels....the point? Future expectations?

So...you level a character to 50 and are instantly converted to veteran level 1. The cap right now is veteran 12, with the future being predicted at veteran 15. So...what is the point? Why not just raise the level caps? What's going to happened when we hit veteran 50? 60?

And like everyone else, end-game does not seem too exciting. Just trials...and forced-group content in an entire zone? Why not make the zone solo-able for the main story (like everything else) and keep the dungeons instanced/4-mans?

I want to guess at least half, if not more, players are mostly solo, there is no new content for them. They pushed a new zone, practically group only.

They need to serve the players, not trying to change players, especially when grouping is so hideously difficult.

I felt like they are putting out a glorious idealized content without solid foundation.

    this.

they seem to be building the pyramid upside down.
forcing people to play in groups after level 50 makes me not want to go past level 50

The answer is simply their a way to track progress for gear and other stuff after 50 without giving you more stats.

AA trials are stupidly hard and most groups are only letting certain classes and players into them. What makes it worse is the drop rate and loot is horrible. You must have a voice program to get into most groups so you can listen to people coughing, weezing, heavy breathers, drunks etc. Not to mention the elitists that will rage at people if they die or aren't doing exactly as they command.

The point is it's not fun for most people and it is a real turn off to people that want good loot and fun gameplay.

    What's the point?

End game content seems to be PvP.

Personally I'd like to see servers for a PvE type format within Cyrodiil. Imagine hundreds of players charging into thousands of daedra/undead, clashing in the fields and valleys of Cyrodiil! Epic.

    Opportunity missed there I think.

    From the road ahead

We've been looking closely at the Veteran system, and we want it to be more exciting to get to level 50. In order to take on the Veteran system, we have to use an approach that addresses several key components:

Itemization – we’ll add gear that’s harder to acquire but more worthwhile. We're looking at gear that will make others envious when you’re wearing or wielding it—both in appearance and in stat boosts. To do this, we’ll adjust soft caps so that they don't kick in quite as quickly. We have to be very careful about how much we adjust numbers, because the greater the variance, the more people can hurt their intended builds.

Veteran Ranks - we're looking at giving you more "points" to spend when you hit a Veteran Rank. This is at a very, very early stage, but essentially, we want to keep the great customization you have for your character from 1-50 and allow you to continue augmenting it in meaningful ways. Our goal is to let you have many more fun character development decisions post level 50.

More content - We're going to continue providing more content on a regular basis. Veteran Dungeons, areas like Craglorn, Trials, and etc. Further, we’re going to allow dungeons to level to the group leader. This means you'll be able to go back and play any dungeon to get rewards appropriate for your group leader’s level.

Yes! I would buy the game again just for that Humans Vs NPCs in Cyrodiil screw the unbalanced gankfest of PvP.

Update one was for endgame only, update two, endgame only, update three however I look forward to since they said that they will make the dungeons (delves) bigger for more exploration which sounds like something I can also enjoy solo.

The raising of the veteran ranks in the very first content update, combined with a complete zone for groups only, is something I consider a very bad sign for the future. As is the content for the second update with just another endgame dungeon which I won't see anyway.

However at release an mmo is mainly solo leveling focused and thus has more solo than group content. It might be that the first 2 updates are just to balance things out a bit and that after they have done that they will focus on both solo and group play equally.

The raising of the veteran ranks so early on and the effect that has on pvp worries me and tbh I have a strong feeling that before long the game will be mainly focused on endgame, group oriented content and for the others there is no endgame apart from pvp.

    Time will tell.

Myself I am not a fan of the way they implemented the veteran ranks, when I first heard about it I thought it was 1-50 vertical advancement and after that horizontal meaning veteran ranks just means you get no stat upgrades, but upgrades in how your gear looks, titles and such. I know, very naïve of me, with all the demand for better gear, better stats and such.

Sadly it just means we now have lvl 62 (65 soon from what I hear) as max level instead of 50 with power increasing exponentially from 51 to 62 making the endgamers gods compared to the rest when you look at their stats.

This means that you are forced to grind Asian mmo style once you reach 50 if you are not into grouping and still want to improve your character.

My fear is that, both in pve and pvp this game will end up yet another "raid or die" game, but I really hope this will not be the case.

What sucks with Veteran Rank content?
Well you got same stats as a lvl 50 so if you are VR12 with 2500HP and fight mobs on solomaps "VR10" they can crit you for 1400dmg, that is a normal trashmob wich comes in group of 3, all 3 doing normal hits you loose about 1500-2000HP...You will never feel strong even if you have 500h+ under your belt.

There is no balance in this game, gear doesnt matter much, veteran rank doesnt matter much, all that matters is if you do it with a group or solo. That alone made me unsub, and today the remaining time ran out, havent played for 13 days prior to that though. I dont want to come back as long as they have this kind of system, I enjoy doing quests alone, I enjoy killing trashmobs alone, I enjoy feeling strong, I enjoy PvP but all the exploiters killed the PvP, I enjoy doing dungeons but all the bugs killed that, since none of this exists in this game I cannot enjoy the game.
