Overload Issues:
Class: Sorcerer
Ultimate: Overload
The light attack damage and ultimate cost has been increased. I consider this a buff more then a nerf even though I wont be able to keep it up as long.
The problem is that this change is not addressing the main drawback of Overload. I was unsure if I should post this because I still find this Ultimate useful for my Sorcerer build and I am afraid that any changes will end up nerfing it. I think this needs addressed though.
Overload Information:
It scales off of Max Magicka. Does not scale off of Stamina.
It scales off of Spell Power. Does not scale off of Weapon Damage.
Personally I am torn with the above. Mainly due to not gaining any benefit from Surge. The Overloads Heavy Attack is also not effected by Bound Armaments which is disappointing. It lessens synergy between medium/heavy armor builds and stamina weapons.
The main problem and the entire reason I bring this up is the weapon the player has equipped at the time Overload is activated.
Lets assume I have a 2-handed Sword equiped and activate Overload. Once activated all weapon abilities loose all benefits from the equipped weapon passives.
Forceful: Light Attacks and Heavy attacks no longer will cause splash damage.
Heavy Weapons: No longer works.
Balance Blade: No longer works so if you use a weapon ability it will cost 20% more stamina.
Arcane Fighter: No longer works.
Battle Rush: No longer works.
The above seriously effects the usefulness of Overload.
Lets assume a player uses the Restoration Staff instead. Then once they use Overload they will no longer gain the benefit of Cycle of life so now all there abilities do 10% less damage. Not just the overload attacks but all attacks. Crystal Shards do 10% less damage, Mages Wrath, etc. All do 10% less damage while Overload is activated.
Suggested change: Just make the current passives work while using Overload. I would prefer it to scale off of Weapon Damage also but that will likely be a nerf to most sorcs.
At the moment a player using Overload is trading passives and great synergy for the dps of Overload. While I have tested Overload on PTS I have not done a ton of number crunching but for Overload to be compareable it would need to make up for the lose of Weapon Passives and Storm Astronach or Negate. Ill do more number crunching once it goes live since Ill actually have the proper gear to get the results that matter.
