A chime when you get a tell/whisper. I know add-ons can supply it, but c'mon. So basic, so easy to implement I'm sure.

Last night someone begged me for help in a quest. I would have been happy to help--too bad I didn't see the request until 10 minutes later. So he was left thinking I ignored him on purpose.

That's not any way to run an MMO, guys.

Make a new chat tab for whispers only and It should light up the title of the tab when you have unread whispers. (though that may be an addon feature too, I dunno because I don't turn my chat addon off.)

Lighting up really isn't good enough--lots going on at times, I'm not always watching for it. And besides, most people aren't going to do that, or know to get an add-on, so what about MY tells that are never seen.

This isn't the first time I've missed a tell from someone, and I'm sure it happens constantly throughout the game to everyone. Makes it seem like a very silent, rude place.

And as the title of this thread says, this has got to be about the easiest thing in the world to put in.

Which chat add-on do you run?

Multiple chat windows is a must for me, and as I understand it, multiple chat add-ons conflict with each other.

Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

I agree with this, a little sound when receiving a tell would be great.

Also a "reply to latest whisper" key. Clicking is so awkward, fist Alt to cursor mode, then mouse click to reply then type. When they have fixed most of the bugs and balance issues i will write a list as to how to improve the UI. It is very awkward to use now.
Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

This is the kind of change that could be slipped into an update easily. Most games offer it--I'm not even sure it needs to be optional. I'm thinking a "tell" chime is not optional, but always enabled for everyone, in other games, but I could be wrong there. Usually it's controlled I think by the general "UI sounds" category of audio settings. Maybe.

I am fairly sure you can just type /r then your reply. It's funny... I am not entirely sure of that at the moment, even though that's the way I think I've been doing it since the game launched.

Most of the time my chat doesn't work. Its very annoying if someone helps me in a quest and I want to thank them but nothing shows up in the chat window.

You could take this idea even further and introduce a range of compulsory noise alerts for all types of event. The possibilities are endless, you should start a poll for suggestions.

/r dosent work half the time in this game, it will stick to one person and refuse to update to the new last whisperer, especially annoying when Im talking to a friend, sell something via whisper, try to talk to my friend again and suddenly regardless of how many replys we have with eachother /r keeps going back to the trader.

But FYI if they added a ding or something I would be inclined to turn it off.

Um--no. In other games this, and this alone, is compulsory, and it's exceedingly silly to make any argument that adding it would somehow open the door to others, when past history with other games shows no such phenomenon.

(That said... the compulsory sound I have set up in my web browser to alert me to "lame attempts at sarcasm" made a sound like a cuckoo clock when I read your post!)

Yep, a key binding for "reply to tell" is needed. They should add that when they add the "tell" chime.
