Game not starting correctly

For some reason, my game isn't loading. I click "PLAY" on the launcher and the screen goes black with an hourglass, but just sits there until I press Enter or right click at which point it says ESO stopped working with no error message. Started doing this today out of nowhere; not sure why as I played last night with no problem.
I right clicked on the launcher shortcut on the desktop and tried running as administrator to no avail; after that on a hunch I checked the selected "default" graphics processor and it was selecting onboard graphics rather than my GPU. When starting it with the correct GPU the first time it seemed to work and I played for an hour or so. Came back and tried it again and it's not working even when I do this anymore.
My drivers are all up to date so I'm not sure what the issue could be. It's pretty aggravating not being able to play when I actually have time
