Veteran Motes in the Moonlight Boss - Dark Mane

I tried asking in game, but no one can help so far. I am stuck on this quest and I cant advance to new content until I get past this. I have been trying for 3 days now to beat this boss, dark mane. I have died 60-80 times. i have lost count really. I am a VR5 nightblade. I have tried all I know how to do, i have gone out and leveled, got all the skill points I could and use them all. I have created new armor, weapons (bow and restoration staff). I am at my wits end... I cannot beat this boss solo... Any suggestions would help.

I'm not sure how NBs are expected to beat this boss lol...2 adds with 2.7k HP and a boss with 13.2K lol...I struggled doing this on my DK cause my magika kept running out.

Bump. No one has done this at veteran levels that can offer advice? I cannot go any further in the game until I can finish this quest.

Any tips for a cloth sorcerer? This fight is ridiculously insane. I can't get past it.

Ok guys, here's how I just did it as a VR5 Dark Magic Sorcerer. Critical Surge, then Crystal Fragment him until add comes out...then Weakening Prison on HIM...kill first add, then use Dark Conversion to replenish Magicka. Fire away at him again with Crystal Fragment until second add comes out. Same thing, Weakening Prison, kill add, Dark Conversion. Rinse, repeat, VICTORY.

The key is to immobilize HIM when the adds are out. Fight adds away from him so you don't knock him out of restraint. Kill adds, replenish Magicka, fight him, etc. Good luck!!

Not sure if you still need advice as veteran NB here or not, but here's how I beat him as VR5:

Build (Light armor, bow, any other weapon):
1st page Bow
-Draining Shot
-Swallow Soul
-Malefic Wreath
-Shadow Cloak
-Leeching Strikes

2nd page, whatever weapon
-any
-any
-concealed weapon
-shadow cloak
-any

Strategy:
1. Invis yourself and move behind Dark Mane
2. hit him with concealed weapon
3. hit him with a heavy attack to knock him down
4. use shadow cloak to invis
5. Switch to bow & toggle on leeching
6. invis
6. use malefic wreath on Dark Mane to cc him
7. Invis
8. Draining shot + swallow soul + heavy attack the first pet x2
9. Invis + malefic wreath on dark mane to cc
10. Draining shot + swallow soul + heavy attack the first pet x2 to kill pet
11. Draining shot + heavy attack on dark mane to keep him locked down until he summons second add
12. Invis + malefic wreath on dark mane to cc
13. Draining shot + swallow soul + heavy attack the first pet x2
14. Invis + malefic wreath on dark mane to cc
15. Draining shot + swallow soul + heavy attack the first pet x2 to kill pet
16. Draining shot + heavy attack on dark mane to keep him locked down, he'll still get some hits in, so toss out a swallow soul + invis or maleific wreath where needed

i don't know how many times i've died doing this quest... im a VR4 nightblade, and i can get him down to about quarter health before his senche make cat food out of me. I mean, if i focus on Dark Mane, they kill me. Focus on the senche, same problem; he kills me easily. I think they should tone this quest down a little, because it's kinda ridiculously hard...

is this the fight with like 6 or so senche that show up almost at the same time? I did this non vet and I needed help and have helped people complete it.

Or is it the fight before that with the two adds? That one was also hard.

Basically, you will need to get help.

I too can not beat this guy with my VR5 NB. I've re-speced, made purple/yellow armor. Only thing left I can figure out is to get a Vamp bite in hopes midnight drain will keep me a live a bit longer. I'm really not sure. I can not stay alive for more than 8 seconds, and get him down to 2/3's health.

Oh wow, yeah this fight is a pain even if you are a Dominion player!

But if you're a sorc have you tried to use negate magic?

And also a good tip, get a friend who is also in your alliance and have him teleport to you. It matters not if he has completed it before or not.

Slot:

any of the Shades for 15% damage decrease (I used Dual).
Mass Hysteria (AoE Fear) to keep him and adds off your butt
Caltrops (Alliance War ability) to keep him and spawns snared and under constant AoE damage
Mark Target on adds for that sweet heal when they die
Funnel Health or it's other morph to stay alive
Siphoning Strikes or any of it's morphs to keep magicka up for fear
Concealed Weapon as an opener
For Ultimate I used Incapacitating Strikes but I think Soul Tether/Soul Siphon might have been better.

Open with Concealed Weapon from Sneak. For the fight, use a range weapon, spam fear and keep Caltrops up at all time. Caltrops snares and Fear makes distance so KEEP MOVING and you'll avoid a lot of damage. Mark Target the ads and focus one at a time, while keeping the Dark Mane CCd with Fear and Ultimates. Learn his rotation and block his Ambush, slowly kill him with Caltrops and weapon attacks the spare time you get inbetween adds. Save Stamina for blocks and Caltrops and Magicka for Shades, Mark Target, Fear and Funnel Health. Cloak is currently broken, so do NOT waste magicka on it.

I killed him on the first try with Bow/DW without any issues. I did not use Siphoning Strikes, but in hindsight I think it might have been good, as I had to pop a few magicka potions.

I ended up asking for help. He was dead before he could even summon his tigers LOL. Oh well.

Yes. When I did this... I wasnt aware I could do this with others. That is how I ended up getting past this. It was a 5 second fight with others...

Tip: Use ultimates as often as possible (preferably area of effect damage) and focus on the lions when they come out.
