error 301 every time

NA server reboot fixed it for me. I was locked out of my account for a few days but just logged back in. I have to say, the customer service was about as good as anyone in the world could have done under the circumstances. Every single time that I wrote them something they responded in like 15 minutes with new things to try and I never really got a copy and paste type message from them except maybe for the first message. Now lets hope they can figure out whats causing this soon so it doesn't happen again.

I have filed a ticket. Yes, they sent a canned response even though I stated explicitly that I could not log on with any computer I tried. My roommate can log onto his character just fine from my computer as well as his own computer.

So yes, it is a server side problem and not our computers!

Reset the servers daily please until you can solve this problem.

I have cancelled my subscription already (4 days remaining). If they fix the issue within the four days fine, but otherwise I'm am out of here.

There is NO WAY I will pay for a game that I cannot play. Sorry.

If you're having this problem, the next scheduled reboots are Monday (NA megaserver) and Tuesday (EU megaserver).

I was considering re subbing but seeing that they are not addressing this and probably because the restart semi fixes it I can guess this bug is way down the todo list, I think I'll move on.
Shame though, the 30ish levels I went through were a nice change from everquest 2.

They are currently in a "cross your fingers" mode and hoping the scheduled maintenance will fix the problem in the morning. That is a legitimate technical solution -- crossing one's fingers.

Ok, so customer service was very fast in responding to my emails. I tried their fixes without success and so emailed in my logs - they wrote me back within the hour.

So I'm impressed at the speed with which they are contacting me, demonstrating they take our (my) concerns seriously. I'm not super impressed that this bug has befallen me, but what can you do, right.

I think the problem is a their server issue. I think - and I have absolutely no programming experience whatsoever - that being suddenly dc'd can cause a bug that tells their server you're still logged on or makes your account not accessible.

Is there anyone here with programming knowledge who could comment on my ignorant ideas?

Just a quick question wath did you guys do before getting error 301.
I have the same problem and mine was made tnx to craglorn.

I tried to travel from 1 wayshire in craglorn to another and got the infinite loading screen. Because i was with my guildmates i didn't want to wait for the timeout message so i Alt+F4 when i tried to login again Error 301 Hit me.

That's how i got my error 301, if the devs know how we got the error maybe they can recreate it and find the problem and fix it.

I had been playing just fine all day. Then all of a sudden and for no apparent reason I start getting disconnected and with unknown error. The posted work-a-round is not always resolving the issues. But most of the night I lose connection, try to log in and get 2 or 3 error codes.

ZeniMax had said they was looking into the issue and would have a fix soon. Its now been 7 to 8 months without no fix.

ZeniMax, screw the in-game bugs with quests and such, get your launcher working, get your servers stable and get the loading screen issues resolved. So far the best I have seen you do is try to patch with temp solutions. How long will a cork plug hold back the water?

Why are you holding back so many patches to the game for the major updates when those fixes can be applied during regular maint.?

Been having this error all morning, and when i finally got in i played for about 20 minutes and then i got thrown out to loginscreen with "An error has occured".

And i can't log in at all now.

I have been able to log in after today's maintenance. I did at one point get an endless load screen.

Last time I hit atl-F4 to close down the program and then ending up with the wonderful 301 when I tried to log back in. But this time I did what I saw someone post here on the forum. I might just be a fluke as I have not had to do it again to test it. Anyhow, here it is

I went to Windows File Manager, navigated to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client (your path may vary). I manually started another instance by clicking eso.exe. Once at the log in screen with the new ESO instance, I tried logging in. Got the loooonnngg 'requesting login", then the time out one. Tried logging one more time. 301. Closed that instance.

Going back to the original instance of ESO, I was now back at the login screen with a notice that another login was attempted. Closed the notice, put in my password, and boom back into char sel.


I also want to say I'm impressed with the mods here. I posted here about having the 301 problem, but because it didn't seem to make any difference, I never submitted a ticket to support. Imagine my surprise when I got an email from support (ticket number included) about my 301 issue.

Now while the advice given was everything already posted (and tried) here on the forums, it was obvious that, while they may not be able to fix the problem, the Mods are very active in making sure it's an issue to be dealt with.

Well it seems my friend 301 is back. Was adjusting my video settings in game, was kick with "unknown error", then all the fun was back

Update: couldn't sleep for some reason, so at 2am est got up and just for fun tried to login. Surprise! I was able to log in, but no textures would load. It was like being in a ghost world. Fixed it by lowering the res one notch. But if I try to up it were it was, I get the same effect. Strange because I've been playing at that res since beta. Did get to play for 2hrs, them logged out.

Tues 10th of June on the NA server i launched the game, it download patches, then i was successfully playing the game up to 8:25am SYD time. I logged out for 20 mins, when i came back and tried to log in it timeout, then i tried again and i got the 301 error. I then tried to log in with my partners account on the same computer and was successful, no issues. I then tried to log in with my account and i get the same timeout issue. I have tried to reboot my PC and modem, same issue. I logged into TESO website to accept the new TOS and tried again, same issue. I tried to do a repair, restart my PC, same issue.

This problem is getting old. If the game crashes for me, that's it, I'm done. 301 will prevent me from relogging in. When's the next restart, Friday?

Server update fixed it for me too, back online now. Pleased to know it was nothing to do with my computer or router, I just hope it lasts!

Yep. I got locked out 2 hours after Monday's patch, so I'm just out for the week pretty much. Maybe the weekend too if they skip maintenance.

I had this last week, Called ZOS tried a few things and nothing. Had to email them my PC specs. Well i got tired of waiting so i did a COMPLETE uninstall. Meaning not only uninstalling the game i manually went in and deleted every folder related to the game. Then i downloaded a fresh launcher, then let the game download over night. Next day logged in no problem.

Now after this patch though i get error 102 and now im completely locked out of the game again with NO solution.

For almost all MMO issues, I can have patience and wait for them to work it out. I've played a *lot* of these games. "You can only play right after a once or twice weekly reset," though, isn't something you can wait out patiently.

I've tried everything listed in this thread. Nothing works. I can log in fine to PTS, but I don't want to play PTS.

I opened a ticket, 140610-003128. I note that the instructions in the "Error Code" sticky say to send them a copy of your host.developer file. How? To whom do we send it?

I get this error 301 just about every other day. My wife plays on her computer right next to me and has no issues whatsoever. Additionally, like one of the above posters, I had her log in her character from my computer and she had no problem. I log in my account from her computer and it's 301-ville. (Account-based connectivity problem? How does that make any sense?) I have found, though, that whenever eso has the 301, I can no longer log into *any* online game. All of a sudden since installing and playing eso, now eq2 wont get past the character select screen. Weird and coincidental that installing eso would effect a different game's connectivity. Weird indeed.
To try to fix this, I contacted eso customer support and followed all of their instructions. I sent them my dxdiag and other computer and network information. I was actually told that they had no further suggestions short of formatting my drive and dropping a fresh windows install. So I did. And oddly enough, I got to play for 2 hours before I got my next 301.
Completely frustrated, and on a whim, I restarted my router. I still cant see any reason to do this (especially with there being nothing wrong with my wife's connection), but it works. And it works every time.
Restarting the router. Even if you end up with the same IP address from your isp. Works every time. Strange.

Happened to me after the 1.1.4 patch. I logged in and played for a few hours, then decided to take a break. That was a huge mistake. Luckily, it was on the last day of my subscription. I will renew it when the problem is fixed.
