I don't seem to be able to critical hit with a dagger.

I assumed that you could deliver a critical hit with any weapon and have been running a dual dagger wielding Nightblade. I've never seen anything that indicated that I'd landed a critical hit (and even posted about this) so assumed that somewhere along the line in melee combat I had landed blows that dealt more damage (my critical hit rating is about 23%).
Since I ended up with a Prismatic Blade longsword somewhere along the way, that did significantly more damage that my current daggers, I've been using that (with a dagger in the off-hand); suddenly I'm stunning, knocking down and, on a couple of occasions, freezing and even shattering opponents in standard melee combat; nothing like this had ever happened with a dagger (magic or otherwise) and I assume that these are critical hits. Is there a bug with critical hits and daggers or do they not delivery critical hits?
