Skill Bar not working correctly

My skill bar keeps graying out and preventing me from being able to use many of my abilities. Problem seems to be escalating because it was happening more frequently today. It was to the point I was finding it difficult to even play.

If there is a known fix for this issue I would really like to know it.

Gonna need more specifics. What abilities, what level, how many mobs you taking on, what add-ons installed, etc? It's broke help me ain't gonna cut it.

    I don't have any add-ons installed.

It seems to randomly happen with all my abilities. Rapid Regeneration, Degeneration, Radiant Aura to name a few. And it happens all the time, not against any particular number or type of enemy. They also gray out rather I'm in a fight or not. Oddly enough, spinning my character around can sometimes make them light up again...

    Are you stunned?

Other than that I think it's a known issue of sort, a quick double tap of ESC will bring them back.

I wasn't stunned and it can happen in or out of combat.

It's good to know this is a known issue though. So hopefully that means they are working on fixing it - because it's turning into a serious problem for me.

I'll try the double tap on the ESC key and see if that helps me deal with it.

Interesting link because what happens to me is very similar to what happens when I target a critter. But it also happens to me when I have other types of enemies targeted, such as a pirate that's trying to kill me (which is what it just happened to me on when I went out and tested it again a minute ago).

Maybe it's a bug that reads incorrectly that you have a critter targeted when you don't? I'm not sure.

I am thinking this is more of a lag related issue. Sometimes it takes the game a solid couple seconds to register a change in target. Even if you clearly see the outline on your screen. To you it looks like you are targeting that pirate, but to the game it looks like you are still targeting that lizard.

Something similar happens to me often in game. I highlight one target only to change my mind, and highlight another, because I decide the second target is what poses the greatest risk. Even though on my screen the second target is firmly locked in. My first attack will still hit the first target I had highlighted just a couple seconds prior.

I can't really speak to targeting non hostile creatures. At some point I learned to avoid hitting them unconsciously. I guess I learned to compensate for all of the wasted damage. By placing my reticule high, and always in center mass. My character is also tall so that may be helping somewhat. Anyway try aiming high, and see if that helps clear things up.

This might be what happens some of the time.

But there are times - just a few minutes ago in fact (it's why I logged out) - where it continues to happen no matter how long I wait or where I aim. Pressing the ESC key did not help me either. So I don't think it's a lag/targeting issue. Seems to be some kind of combat bug that affects your ability to use certain spells.

It's an annoying bug so I hope they fix it cause it gets me killed a lot.
