Grilled Worms, what the ????????

What is with some of the weirder recipes in this game, for example:

Grilled Worms, ingredients: Plump Worms & Dripping
RothMead, ingredients: Aged Meat & Corn Mash
Meat Muscat, ingredients: Aged Meat & Wine Grapes
Beatle Shots, ingredients: Dusk Beatles & Corn Mash
Dusk Wine, ingredients: Dusk Beatles & Wine Grapes

I can get my head around Rothmead and Meat Muscat being Bosmer recipes, but they shouldn't have non-meat ingredients (because of the Green Pact). I'm not sure whether Bealtle Shots & Dusk Wine are Bosmer or Khaiit recipes, but I can get my head around them nevertheless.

But Grilled Worms, you would have to be nearly dead from starvation before you could look at a bowl of worms and say "I know, I'll grill these, hmmmmm". Maybe not even then.

By the way, I'm not asking for these to be changed, I'm just opening up a thread for people to discuss the weird recipes in this game. (well hopefully)

Well, if you let worms a day in the water they are pretty clean. Then cook 'm up and grill 'm. Thats how we did it at the boyscouts. We even made pancakes with grilled worms in it.

Heck, i even ate them alive just to frighten class mates.

Really man, it's not that big of a deal.

Really, it's the one recipe that actually makes my stomach turn.

    Guess it's just me then.

Acording to one of the Quetlines in Grathwood, Bosmer are allowed to use plant parts that have already fallen off - from natural causes, or caused by others (invaders, animals). They will still try to "defend" the plants, however.

The chineses eat locsuts. Among other insects. They are high in protein and low in fat. Pretty healty actually.
And the Great Birttains have...wierd stuff they eat (haegis, fried snickers). Granted it is fully normal stuff for them.

Ok, that makes sense, and explains how they can be archers too. (since bows are wood)

Haggis and Fried Snickers are both Scottish, so be very careful there or someone will play the racism card. Actuall Haggis isn't much weirder than sausages (it essentially is a giant sausage with offal in it), and fried Snickers is actually quite nice.

Us British also eat Black Pudding (blood pudding to Americans) which is lovely with bacon, sausages, fried bread, etc. We also eat White pudding (also blood pudding to Americans) which is essentially the same thing, but a different colour. And we eat salad cream, which is completely different to mayonaise.

Um, no actually, I don't even think I've ever see it.

It was a book that was immensely popular when I was a kid in the 1970s (they did film it some years ago, and iirc, it did manage to follow the book more or less well, but understand I haven't read it in at least 30 years.)

IIRC, a kid makes a deal with his school bully (can't remember the terms, but probably getting the bully to back off or something. I may be confusing my own situation as a kid here, though) - but the kid had to eat one worm a day for 30 days to win. He could prepare the worm any way he liked, but he had to eat the thing. Upshot is, the kid stuck it out, got creative and won, even after his foe tried to sabotage the deal by sending a bad attempt at a phony doctor's note to his parents.

As far as convincing Westerners to eat bugs, I don't trust that talk, it smells like there's some heavy political/ideological crap behind it to me, and I'm more than happy to take a big bite of Alberta angus steak in front of anyone who tries to convince me that locusts are just tastier, is all.

I'm actually pretty thrilled and amused by these. My bosmer Dragon Talon is a very old RP of mine, and one of the running jokes is, as an adventurer, she is quite happy eating things that amazing and nauseate others, like spiders and bugs and things. She is quite gleefully becoming quite the cook.

I just wish they allowed for more bugs and animals in alchemy. As a Bosmer, she doesn't usually eat plant parts. Right now, she's decided that mushrooms are more on the evil side of the plant kingdom, and collects those for potions, but it severely limits what she can do alchemy wise.

One of the sidequest in the Pact involves distracting a shop owner by releasing a rat. The Kajiit that gives us this solution says:

Most people here in Britain wouldn't consider them fully normal. There are some people who eat Haggis and deep fried battered Mars bars (similar to a snickers minus peanuts) but they're both mostly eaten in Scotland and pretty rarely even there.

I'd like to see cookable animal bits drop from creature kills in the game. Seen it only once in beta with a piece of venison from a deer. I think every cook in the game would also like cookable fish. Give a Khajiit a fish and he will eat it and ask for some moon sugar for dessert. Teach a Khajiit to fish and you will have a fat happy Khajiit and a sudden decrease in pickpocketing incidents in Mistral.

Mm, last I looked at cladology, the fungus kingdom (the one mushrooms belong to) is more closely related to the animal kingdom than the plant one, to boot. Is there a mycologist in here who can describe how that works? I know part of it has to do with cell structure, and other part having to do with the way mushrooms ... "eat".

Fried Mars bars are pretty popular in some East Coast pubs over here in Canada, though my favourite is the Bacon Wrapped Deep Fried Mars Bar with Ice Cream special at the Newfie bar in town. Soooooo good.

Actually here in Calgary we will pretty much deep fry anything when it comes to food (I claim it is an important link to our Scottish heritage) see: http://cs.calgarystampede.com/fun-food/food/
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.
