Modem reboots after playing for 10-15 minutes

I have a Netgear DGND3700 ADSL modem and lately, the modem will reboot after about 10-15 minutes of playing Elder Scrolls Online.

It doesn't do this doing any other activity online – playing any other kind of online game, torrenting, downloading things, surfing etc.

Googling hasn't turned up much, except to open up ports for the game, but they're open by default otherwise I wouldn't be able to play the game full stop.

Not really sure what to do here. I'm not 100% clued up on how to read the modem's logs or even what to look for in the modem's configuration.

Replace the router. There is nothing they or your ISP will do it about it. I had the exact same issue with Diablo 3. I would log in, join a game and in 10-20 minutes I would get kicked from the server. Reconnect then not get dropped again no matter how long I played.

As soon as I replaced my router the problem went away. There wasn't technically anything wrong with my hardware, since it worked with everything else, but it was the problem. Blizzard tried to resolve but eventually said everything looked right and there wasn't anything else they could do. The same thing will probably happen with Zenimax.

Yeah, I have a spare Billion that works flawlessly. This will be the second Netgear that's gone south for one reason or the other within 12 months.

I'm not actually getting disconnected by ZOS, the modem itself is rebooting. It's like it can't handle the game's data or something.

But it's under warranty, so I'll just replace it.

Same with Netgear, it's not really the game or anything but the modem itself, just replace it or have your ISP replace it with a new one, which is what I did and the problem when away.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of the Netgears I've used over the years have a nasty habit of overheating, especially under constant load like you get with streaming/online gaming. It's a nasty design flaw.

I started mounting a fan on them to stop the reboots and extend their lifetimes. Since most use a 12v DC power adapter (check your adapter first of course), you can drive a run-of-the-mill PC fan by tapping into the power connector on the board or splicing into the adapter cord. A little 40mm fan is plenty and it'll last for decades once you mod it.
