Gold spammers

zelthinab16_ESO
Everytime I logg on in the game I have 3-6 in-game mails about people wanting to sell me gold or crafting mats.
This needs to be adressed ASAP!!
It's come to a point where I don't want to logg in because it annoys me that much. It's ruining the game. All the mails and all the gold spammers in general chat!

I logg on, report 3-6 accounts and then I logg off because it takes the fun out of it.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one feeling like this and I'm pretty sure that you guys at ZOS know of this as well.

Please do something about it!!

/M

Usually, this occurs after they see your character talking in chat, so I recommend to reduce the amount you talk in zone chat especially. Or, just stop talking in zone chat as a whole if you are completely tired of this issue. Good luck!

    this is a minor inconvenience...

if deleting 5 e-mails takes the fun out the game for you then you must be a very persnickety person.
  • zelthinab16_ESO
Don't use zone chat at all or VERY little. Use Mumble with my friends when I play.
I've come across goldspammers in lots of other mmo's but not as much as I do here.... :-(

Gold spammers are a minor annoyance. The game being unplayable for many and even unlaunchable for some it more important

Check your guild. Gold spammers have started joining guilds to get access to the roster of players. Once they have the usernames they can also sell the usernames so people outside the guild can spam.

It's not a theory. People are selling EOS username lists in bulk on spammer forums.

It's entirely possible that what you just said should be a bannable offense all by itself. Just sayin'

I learned a new word today. It was a good day.

In all seriousness, I get two mails every day. I wish they stopped appearing, but deleting them takes only two seconds, so I don't mind. I'll forget about them the next minute anyway.

On the bright side, I rarely see goldspammers in zone chat now. Either they all landed on my ignore list (unlikely) or the situation is finally improving.

Yeah, I agree with @Rosveen - I just delete the gold mails. Zone chat is (almost!) entirely free of gold spam now.

No ban spammers means I'll never need to update my ignore list

I haven't gotten a repeat from spammers that I've reported. I don't bother to add them to my ignore list; I've run into too many immature "yeah that's what your mom said last night" zone chat pitas to waste my ignore list on gold spammers who never seem to send a second message. I use my ignore list for the zone chat spammers.

ZOS should add an option to set it so only those on your friends list can send you an email or whisper. That would solve this problem. I am really getting annoyed at having to delete 6+ gold farmer emails each day from the one annoying company that bothers players the most.

well, reporting a spamming email is straight forward and assuming that ZOS is doing their part, is the easiest and fastest way to ban a gold seller. It should be easy to check the email in the logs so the proof is there.
Therefore, I would suggest to continue to report them. And be happy because by this you have contributed to reducing their number. ;)

Yes its a little annoying opening the mail to find one email about spam but its not enough to call the game a loss.

I am thinking there are many free 30 day users playing just to big down the success of a game that has a few minor problems that will be tweaked out like all MMo's have at the start. I remember a popular game that starts with a R had the same gold spammers and sellers. They are gone and it took them a while to stop them. Its funny, that game got the same complaints and complainers, its running stronger without them now.
