Bad limitation on crafting

It appears that I cannot craft an item higher than my own level.
I can't make armor higher than level 12 with a level 12 player.
THIS IS WRONG
A tailor can make a shirt bigger or smaller than he can wear.
A jeweler can make rings bigger and smaller than he can wear.

Why are our crafters prevented from making things for people at a higher level than the crafter is?

Boooo

Please fix this.
If I wanted a Signature I would have a Signature --- but i don't want one so I don't have one.

You should be able to craft higher than you. As long as you have the skill in that material. Unless this just changed? I have crafted higher than me. :|

Is this new? Because my woodworker has made stuff for higher level characters before now. I can't go in and check right now because my hard drive died and I'm just downloading the game on my husband's PC (which will take a while), but my woodworker is level 18 and with a point spent in the skill to use higher level materials could make items up to level 24 (ie the highest level for oak gear) last time I looked.

Edit: Maple/Rawhide/Jute/Iron gear requires no skill point spent and goes up to level 14, to make 16 to 24 gear from Oak/Hide/Linen/Steel requires a point spent on the first passive in the relevant crafting skill line.

I have also crafted higher than my level, but you cannot equip that item until you are of the appropriate level.

I would suggest the OP has not put the skill points in to use the next type of material.

I was crafting various items - all 3 crafts higher than my character today.

If it's not a skill point issue make sure you're increasing the amount of the material you're using. I ran into someone in game that didn't know this was how you increase the level of the gear.

My bad. I saw the number turn red so I thought it was telling me I couldn't do that.
But today I said, ' why not try and see what happens ' and it worked. My crafter is currently only level 12 and I made a level 14 armor item and put it in the bank and had my level 14 mage go get it and he could use it.

So I was wrong!! Imagine that :)

I < can > make things above my level for sale or other characters to use.

Threw me off when it went red so I thought it was saying I couldn't do that.

Some people also don't notice the Have Items, and Have Knowledge boxes either. ;)
