We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

If we have to deal with NPC Collision, so should NPCs!

This is getting a bit out of hand.

Approaching 3 mobs. You start fighting one of them and the other two come up and hit you and stand in front of you and the mob you're fighting. So when I'm about to execute (or have just pressed the key) the other mobs get in the way and I used it on them instead.

Mobs don't even follow NPC collision but we have too? I'm sorry, this is dumb and needs addressed.

EDIT: the targeting system does nothing for the player if they are Melee. (yes, I'm a NB so that's probably the reason why it doesn't work!)

Kinda hard when 3 NPCs are standing on top of each other and selecting the one you need to finish killing while the other two stand on top of each other. TAB system does nothing for this, either. Would really like a response of some sort from the developers.

Yes this is really annoying. I'm melee NB too and quite a lot I get this situation when my execute doesn't land on target I was trying to execute because other npc gets in a way.

And let me take a swing (no pun intended): Marking the target does nothing to prevent this, right?

Swear I don't know who hates NBs worse....Zenimax or me..

Hell, battle NPC griefing is one thing, but even out of battle I get sick of being forced out of my emote by NPCs passing by. They so much as brush up against you and your /sitchair, normal /sit, /lean, etc. are broken. Yet our massive stamina draft horses can be halted mid sprint by a mudcrab or snake the size of the horse's hoof and all we can do is run in a circle and jump over it. Does the mudcrab get mushed? Nope. Doesn't even slide out of the way.

@Eorea - Early in the days when developers put collision on NPCs (and on players in PVP, OMG WHY?!) I thought it was simply due to ignorant developers trying to make their game cool. All it did was annoy players.

Now we deal with non-target selection in a real-combat system and WITH collision. You can imagine what I think of these developers at this stage.

ehm, sorry. But well deserved. You people complained that combat feels unreal because you can run through a mob, now that they've added collision, you're complaining again.

btw, if you have a priority target you want to take down, TAB it before fight. It will put an ugly white frame around the target and you won't be able to hit anything else BUT the target (with single target abilities).

You're the one laughing but did not read the TAB feature does not work for Melee when a mob walks in front of you and the mob you're fighting. You hit the mob that walks inbetween you and the one you have TAB'D.

And for the record "combat feels" has nothing to do with the way the game system is not operating. Please read, we're tired of seeing your arse.

Guess we just had the last laugh now.

Being boxed in by npc's also sucks, but I can usually jump over the shoulders between two of them to get out if its not a huge crowd of them or big monsters. I have learned to be more a careful about where I am backing up to and such now though.

The downsides to letting you push NPC's would be too much I think, since the potential for grief and exploits is very high. I don't have confidence in Zeni to design the system well enough to account for the problems it would introduce, or to fix the inevitable exploits in a reasonable time frame.

On the whole, I do like the collisions more than I would like not having any at all, despite the flaws.

I have never liked this collision thing, it's a pain in the backside. It's not just npc's either. Now that they decreased the area of interacting with containers, some things you can't even reach because of objects being in the way.

I hate to tell you guys but originally this game didn't have NPC collision.

A bunch of RPers made such a big thing about it that eventually the developers put it in.

So I hope they are happy (I also hope they rot in Silicon Hell for the rest of eternity)
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

Yep, I remember that too when the RPers complained. When I read that back then I bout fell out of my chair when the decision was made.

Now it is greatly effecting Melee classes getting boxed in by the NPCs (which is ***). I thought their only intent was to place the collision on Town NPCs, not enemy NPCs.

And now, of course, this issue when the mobs don't follow the collision themselves and you're trying to finish off a mob and the other one gets in the way. It shouldn't do that.
