Multi-button mouse - can't assign extra buttons on the Mac

Hi all,

I've had a 5-button mouse for about a decade and use this extensively for games on both Mac and PC (bootcamp).
However i can't seem to allocate any functions to button 4 or 5 - although the game use to recognise these as different from MB3, they would all perform the same action as MB3. Now i can't even get the game to recognise these as separate buttons.

I run ESO on bootcamp as well and have no problems in that respect, all 5 buttons perform distinct actions.

Is this a known issue? Or is there something i can do to fix?

A (supposedly now fixed) issue with mouse buttons is mentioned in the known technical issues list.

Are MB4 and MB5 recognized in OS X itself?

Is it possible for you to assign normal keystrokes to the buttons via mouse driver software? That's how I can use the 12+ thumb buttons of the G600.

I just assign key strokes to all my buttons. I think what most do from previous threads.

Thanks for the assist guys... although not needed for other games, i installed the microsoft driver (it's an old IntelliMouse Explorer microsoft mouse) and used that to set keystrokes... works fine now.

Cool. Glad you got it sorted. Being able to bind the keystrokes works in much the same was as it recognising the actual mouse buttons so should cause no issues.
