(update: see bottom for 'fix' to most these issues)
most of these 'issues' are related to D3D9.
my game has been defaulted to D3D9 since launch.
did not even know there was a D3D11 option till recently.
found while researching issues related to patch 1.1.2.
note: option for D3D11 is not in game menus, it must be forced.
(see 'fix' at bottom)
any special reason D3D option/mode is not in game menus?1) the new D3D9 'full screen' is a lil better...
some claim better performance. that's nice. don't agree, but nice to hear.
however, 'exclusive' full screen?... no.
on a driver level AA, AF, and vsync still don't work for D3D9.
also, driver level 'sli' is still not available unless forced.
does this all require a new driver from nvidia?
Bethesda claims they made several SLI/crossfire changes in patch 1.1.2.
what driver did they use?
what settings were used?
D3D9 or D3D11?
Win7? XP? Vista?
x86 or x64?
* nVidia released a new whql driver May 26th: 337.88
no update to ESO. no change in capability or performance.
2) in UserSettings.txt there is a setting:
'preferexclusivefullscreen'...
by default it is set to '0' (off).
IF we already have exclusive full screen why is the setting 'off'???
even with in-game menu set windowed or fullscreen in D3D9,
'preferexclusive' always stays default '0' (off).
setting it to '1' (on) does nothing for D3D9. nada. zilch.
what IS the purpose of the setting?
why is it not available via a check box or other method in the menus?
or, why is it not 'on' by default when using 'fullscreen' D3D9?

FIX:
the below fix removed invisible ghost/atronarchs/spirits
introduced in patch 1.1.2 ...
gave me better graphics quality/performance... AND ...
gave me driver level control of AA, AF, and vsync.
(requires a DX11 capable machine)
answer came from 3rd and 4th post in this thread:
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/103872/graphics-issue-invisible-ghosts-frost-atronachs-shadow-bats-in-wayrest-sewers1. make sure eso.exe is NOT in compatibility mode.
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
right click 'eso.exe' and select properties.
on the compatibility tab make sure nothing is checked (admin should be fine)
2. set graphics to D3D11
go to C:\Users\Brandon\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
in usersettings.txt about 2/3 way down look for 'GraphicsDriver.7'.
change D3D9 to D3D11.
recommend set preferexclusivefullscreen to '1' (on)... default is '0' (off).
save file and close.
3. save settings.
this is not truly 'necessary' but recommended.
launch game, login, logout, quit.
doing this once makes certain settings are saved.
