So before 1.1.2 Aurora Javelin was bugged: the maximum damage difference between absolute max range and point blank was around 24.5% instead of the stated 40%.
This is a bug I, And I'm sure many others, have reported several times, including exact numbers and screenshots.
Now, 1.1.2 came around, including this:

Aurora Javelin: Fixed an issue where Aurora Javelin was adding less damage than the intended additional 40%.
I logged on to test it, eager to see my favorite skill in the game and the cornerstone of my build finally live up to its full potential and here are the results:
Damage at max range: 335
Damage at point blank vs the same target: 269
For a damage bonus of 24.5% instead of 40% again.
Now I genuinely love this game but I'm quickly losing faith in the devs' ability to get anything right.
