Craglorn impossible lag/crashes

Running around with a group in Craglorn ended up with over 12 people experiencing uncontrollable lag and frequent disconnects. Each crash I got was an "unknown error". After a half hour of my Fps sitting between 0 (it literally sat at zero half of the time) and 10, disconnecting or crashing 5 times I called it quits. I couldn't even get enough of a connection to get to a wayshrine and port to another zone. Attempting to "travel to player" using a guildy in another zone resulted in another crash, so I'm done for today and will try again tomorrow.
I would love to know if any Devs are aware of this issue, as it is affecting a lot of players.
