(tl;dr at bottom)My mother and I both play this game and we each bought our own copies so we could have separate accounts. But my internet service is limited to 18GB per month and already costs $130 for that, and each gigabyte over is another $15. Aside from dial-up and satellite, it is all that is available in my area (it's Verizon's LTE, if you're wondering).
I play on my self built desktop that is in a full tower case and weighs something like 45 pounds, and is not easily transported to other locations. I knew going into this I'd have to eat a few gigabyte patches, but the plan was to update the game on my mom's laptop when necessary then copy the game to my desktop so we could both play at the same time. In the beginning I had gotten the game first and installed it on my system, and just accepted the extra cost of patching it on my home network then tried copying the game to my mom's laptop after installing her copy to her system and the launcher starts but the game immediately crashes every time I click launch. I suspect it will be the same if I update the original installation on the laptop then copy it to my system.
tl;dr: Is there a trick to copying the game folder from one system to another, assuming both systems have registry entries for the game so I can update on a laptop at a friend's house then return and copy it to my desktop?
