I hit play and a black screen pops up. I get the blue loading circle that spins indefintly. Eventually the computer pops up and says ESO is not responding.

Bump. I contacted customer support and got my automated, check your firewall, who is your ISP, Are you getting error messages. Run as administrator. Check your drivers. Delete you shadercache.cooked file. Restart your computer. Answer. NONE OF IT IS THE PROBLEM. It happened because of the patch. It worked fine 24 hours ago. So I just wasted an hour and a half doing silly stuff only to see the same thing. Has Anyone managed to get it working after having this problem?

not working here. Wants to download the entire game again and I'm just too fed up to bother any more. Did 'repair' twice per CS recommendation.

Great idea. I should probably do a repair in advance because I am sure that is my next automated response.

Game is *** after patch for me as well. Game freezes after launch, have to force quit. Everything was running fine up until now.

    Sigh...

Change your video mode in settings back to windowed fullscreen. It defaults to the new "true" fullscreen after the patch which may be the source of these issues.

This may need to be accomplished through ini tweaking if you can't get in at all.

Alright heres the fix. They added full screen support and some video cards are having problems launching the game
    Go to C:\Users\Username\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
Look for UserSettings and open it with note pad
Look for SET FULLSCREEN_v5 it will be set to SET FULLSCREEN_v5 "2"
Set it to SET FULLSCREEN_v5 "1" and hit file save
hit Play and enjoy the game

No i tried changing the full screen in user settings from "2" to "1". I dont know if they changed the opening scene at all. It simply goes to the black screen and tries to load eventually when you do anything it will say ESO has stopped responding. Also as predicted the customer support team asked me to do a repair :D. They want a screenshot of me doing it though? *Shrug* Ill send it to them. I am just relaying here so if anyone else is having this issue they will know what they want them to try.

Same thing is happening on my GF's comp. The full screen "Fix" didn't work. I wonder if this has the same issue as the grey play button, because her comp was guilty of that issue too.

Same thing here. I have done the "full screen fix" and the "skip pregame videos" suggestions. I have had no problems wit this game up until this point and now have lost one day of play. This is eerily similar to an issue I had during Beta.......what gives? I thought patches were supposed to move the game forward, not backwards.

I had this to today. I did the immortal full reboot, then tried to launch the game from the launcher, it let me in, ( After aborting and restarting 3x ) so I changed the window display setting and was able to get in. But then the now current issue of the freeze/crash struck me, so I re launched from the .exe and then got the now current choppy then unplayable then freeze/crash again.
Pretty much my game play has been rendered non existent today...

can someone copy/paste all the text from that folder? i remember something about this problem in open beta.
  • thanos_11b16_ESO
i deleted user setting, cause someone said that might work but now that is missing and repair did not replace it

It is not a problem with the live folder. I just verified this by copying my folder over to my GF's comp. No dice.

I also had the "Grey Play button" problem. Game would not load and just stayed on launcher screen. Interesting. I had to manually put in a UserSettings.txt file to get that to work. Is it at all possible someone with a working version could Copy and Paste a new UserSettings.txt file Just in case they made a change and the updater just doesn't update it for some reason on my computer.

Hrmmm alright :/ My mistake I thought you did an folder of some sort not just the file. Wonder if there is a way to bypass the initial graphic loading screen and send it right to the log in screen. I think that is where it is becoming unresponsive.

I did the entire folder to make sure that it isn't anything else in the documents folder. So it isn't the settings or the folder. Must be game related or hardware issue.

Honestly that is my biggest fear. I don't have the worlds greatest computer. Yet it played it just fine on lower settings. If they upped the requirements and now it cant process it. I am going to be a sad panda. Pretty Mad too but, mostly sad.

Alright, I seem to have fixed my issue by editing the user settings file and setting these two parameters back to defaults (had to disable these threads settings initially because somehow ESO didn't work well with dual processors):

    SET RequestedNumJobThreads "1"
    SET RequestedNumWorkerThreads "1"

(both were set to "-1" to correct the previous bug).

    Didn't fix it for me.

Yah they weren't in mine either. I tried adding them both in. I also tried changing skip opening videos to 1 and 2 and that didn't help. After messing around some more. I would open my task manager as soon as it tried to load in and would Say "ESO not responding" almost immediately after trying to start it. So something is funky and my computer just cant handle what they game wants to do.

They weren't in my GF's either, but even copying over mine where they are, it didn't work.
