How about just shutting everything down instead of doing roll backs.

Roll backs are the worse idea ever. Resetting progress in a progress driven game seems to be idiotic at best. I would rather see servers shut down then suddenly lose a minute of past play time. Reselling items, re-traveling a large distance, re-killing a boss, and re-crafting a set of gear are all extremely annoying, especially without any notice.

If you're disconnected and experience a rollback it's not really intentional. What just happened is that the zone you were in crashed, so - like in any offline game - unsaved progress is lost, which is what you experience as a rollback.

If you've just completed a long quest chain and want to make sure it's not reset anymore (since you experienced quite a few rollbacks in that particular zone), then just zone/travel to another map (e.g. from Alik'r Desert to Stormhafen) and back again, which will cause the game to save your progress.
