As long as nobody gets miffed when i call them by their toons sex.

    "She has agro"
    "I'm a dude"
    "No, your not"

It's all about communication, for me. I don't want people referring to me as a female, so I play males in MMOs. If you are fine with people thinking you are the same sex as your toon, more power to you.

I have female and male characters. My main is female. This is mainly because I like to look at an attractive toon in a non-freaky fixated way lol. Also, I really like women who can kick arse.

I have some pretty brutish male toons also. I just liked the idea of a female NB for my main; perhaps influenced somewhat by Skyrim Dark Brotherhood stuff.

I am female but I play both genders, although if asked will always tell the truth. I started gaming long ago when being a female in a game was less then pleasant so I got into the habit of playing males. I still play more males then females particularly in games where the attire for females is less then subtle.

Male playing females, it's been a habit for years now although I did have male char's back in the UO, EQ, Asheron's Call days. Somehow I just feel that female animations and armor are done much better.

    I am bias.

I make my Fighters and Mages male.

I make my cut throat money grubbing evil thieves and wonderfully loving, caring healers women.

    I might have issues.....

You didn't really state what your poll was, so I took it as "what toons do you have now." My main is almost always a male, but after one play through, I mix it up. In another MMO, related to old republics warring in the stars, I have 12 chars and it's about 50/50.

I am a male playing a male. I also believe the stereotype about "most female characters are either fat, heinous or men" is true. I also wonder how your post would have read if you had separated gender by Cysnogenic and Tranny. That would shed more light on the results.

I could support Account Bound Gender (even better if hooked to your identity but that will be another few years). Some games already do have that, and I have always found the idea of a person posing as a member of the other gender to be tasteless and creepy.

I'm male with all male toons. When i was younger and playing runescape (I was like 12) I used to think that people were more likely to help a female toon lol. So i used to run females. So shameful. So very shameful.

I've never been one to play Female Characters. I like to identify or see myself in my characters. I am a Gay Male, but i still can't put myself in a woman's shoes...

Besides, the whole "staring at a backside for hours on end" homage applies here too, i just prefer it to be Male :)

I play both, its just what ever feels right for the character, story and atmosphere, even supporting characters.

As of now In my goal to make 4 healers one of each faction, i have 2 female and 2 male. Currently working the female nightblade to cap before focusing on others though.

But other alts are mostly male.

Example when ever I played fallout 3 female character just felt like it fit better, but for some reason I could never take a female in skyrim seriously and only enjoyed playing male characters in skyrim.

Its hard to explain what makes a character as whole, gender, appearance, play style and theme to fit into a certain game. But some times it just feels off putting to use one or the other, or one just feels like its right for the game.

If I have the option to play a female in any game, I will, since I am.

However, I'm sure there are many men that are playing female characters. [Judgmental moment] Most of the times it's kind of obvious. If I see a female character in the game with gigantic boobs and huge rear, it's obviously a guy behind the controls. Lol

I always have played as a female character. It's easier to relate to. I cannot ever see myself playing a male character because I would feel no connection to the avatar.

For example, I would not have felt such a connection to my Shepard in Mass Effect if they didn't have the option to have a female Shep.

I usually play females in rpgs though I am a guy except if it's one of those games with romance options.Even then I usually play female and just don't do any of the romance quests. In TESO I will probably not get far with anything except Dunmer females.

I also like to play the most non human race a game offers as a male. In TES I am however not very impressed with the Argonian or Khajiit since they are just too human. If Khajiths were more like GW2 Charr I would have played them exclusively as males.

I do not like playing anything that resembles me even though I usually can get pretty close of making a lookalike. Even worse if they remember of someone I know like that dude trying to play his gf(oh dear. Wrong on so many levels.) . And human guy PCs start to annoy me most of the time at some point.

Oh and if the game has burly dwarfs I do go male.

I'm a male that plays both genders with different races and classes. My DW DK is a female nord while my shield Templar is a male altmer. So far the majority of my characters happen to be male though.
