So I gotta say, last night was the first time since beta where the PvP was simply not fun. I'm uncertain if this was primarily caused by the Wabbalag or what, but here's a couple points of concern and thoughts (please discuss):
1. It seems before if someone engaged you and stunned you, you could stun-breaker free and get the fight going. This worked fine as the person who was jumped begins the actual fight with half their stam gone giving the aggressor a benefit but still resulting in a fun engagement for both parties. Now however it seems certain abilities cannot be stun-breakered out of resulting in a 'fight' where the engager stun locks the recipient to near death before the recipient can respond. Again, I'm not sure if this is due to bugs/lag, but if intended, this is destroying the fun and competitive nature of pvp engagements practically handing the aggressor the match. To note, I'm not talking about being unable to stun breaker after being dismounted, which is as it should be.
2. I also noticed that in many engagements people were straight up disappearing. It was like I could engage them, or they could engage me at times, and the target could just crouch and attain "hidden" in plain daylight seemingly just a few feet away. It seems that whether you are the engager or the defender once the fight begins neither party should be able to go "hidden" without using abilities. Just being able to crouch hide once you're in the heat of battle is nonsensical. Again, this could be a result of lag and people being further from my location than they appeared, but regardless a heat of battle mechanic should disallow characters to go stealth who have been recently engaged (or those committing the engagement) for a set amount of time. This of course doesn't apply to character abilities allowing them to temporarily stealth in battle, just crouch stealthing.
3. Finally, now that I'm V12 and have my gear set almost done I'm concerned about being able to stay passionately involved in PvP. Don't get me wrong, I love the fighting and general mechanics, but where's the reward? What's the ultimate goal? As a guy with kids and a 40 hour work week striving for emperor is out the question, so what else is there? We need bigger and better reward systems, preferably ones that involve community investment, such as a place guilds and players can pool their resources to unlock benefits for their faction. Or systems that deposit "tax revenue" to faction members' bank accounts based on the number of keeps/holdings your faction controls for example. My point is that the fighting is fun, there just needs to be more of an incentive to capture and hold keeps. Gold, rares, anything that makes the pvp more rewarding.
