So is it open to everyone now? Or is my forums account does finally have PTS right? (I have PTS access for a long time...)

I don't want to make a new thread and clutter, but since we'll be playing on the PTS server should we expect to see way less people?

And what if we want to go back to normal server, will this be an easy process without any game progress loss or anything? I don't know why I'd want to go back, just curious. Thanks for any insight.

The PTS server is the test server. You can play there to test new content and new patches that aren't on the live server yet. The important thing is to submit every bug you find with /bug and if you want to give feedback /feedback. :)
Of course you will still be able to play on the live server, too. Just log out of PTS and log in on the live server.

    Hope that helped :)

Yes, that helped. I had a few more questions so I started a new thread so as to not derail the purpose of this one

@Felo‌, thanks that is very helpful. I assume our characters would be completely independent? If we are new to the PTS do we have to start with a brand new character or can we import our current character? I have to assume you cannot bounce between live and PTS with the same character, right?

Yes, you have to create a new character on the PTS. Most likely a template character will be available, better to create a template character. :)
No, you won't be able to transfer a character from live to PTS or the other way around.

That is correct. The PTS was also freshly wiped so everyone is as if they were new. You can make a new chacter from scratch or make a V9 level character with the template.

@Felo‌ and @driosketch‌, thanks for the clarification. The templates make sense as it would be hard for anyone to test much if we had to start at the beginning.

It's also very important not to treat this like a secondary live server with less people. Everything on the PTS is subject to a wipe at any given time. Try not to get too attached to your characters or items on the PTS as they are not long for this world :)

In addition, the PTS will not be open continuously unlike the live server. ;)

@taylorwilenskiub17_ESO‌ at the top right corner of the launcher is the setting cog. Scroll down and check the box for "Show Public Test Environment".

You should now have The Elder Scrolls Online (NA/EU) and under it: The Elder Scrolls Online PTS. Click it and choose to download. You can then select either server. Your login should be the same.

Keep in mind, it's a big download that will take a long time and will double your game size.

@taylorwilenskiub17_ESO First enable it in the launcher options. It'll download another copy of the game (yes, another 30GB).

You'll see two servers in your launcher when it's ready. Simply chose the PTS server to play there.

It's hard to tell if people are being serious or sarcastic sometimes on the internet. Just in case you didn't know you can also make a vr 9 character too in order to test high level content.

To everyone else. Be prepared for servers to be turned off after patches and character deletes as well. This is not a live server replacement

no not being sarcastic , i actually want to see how the patch affects the low level stuff aswell not just craglorn. i mean last patch gave us 2 new levels and some content and a ton of bugs on the not v10 - v12 areas..

i mean there is more to the game than only craglorn you know :)

Okay. Sometimes sarcasm is hard to tell when written and there are so many negative people on the boards. I agree everything needs to be tested
