Is it worth being a Vampire?

And I don't understand why feeding doesn't do damage like drain essence but heals you anyways. Where is the HP coming from if not from the feed sources life force?

Yes, exactly! Feeding on a victim doesn't do anything to them but tee them off. After you feed, you still have to fight them at full health. Makes no sense to me at all.

I don't know whether it's worth it for PVP because I haven't done PVP, but I think with PVE, it depends on how you're playing. If you're actually roleplaying, which I am, it's great. If you're just looking for a stronger character in a fight, unless I'm missing something, I don't feel like my vampire is really much stronger than she was before she was turned.

She is weaker in several ways but more powerful. Since my witch is built to be a glass canon I don't have too many problems, she is used to being very careful while she lays down the smack. Executions are way better than fighting and the Vampire line offers several useful perks to make that more possible.

She took vamp at level 24 and went in and executed the level 42 chars she had to, to complete the Vampire quest. Executed them, I could go into detail but .....

I recently turned my character into a vampire, primarily for role-play purposes.

I like the passives, and the drain active is really nice, along with bat swarm. I haven't reach it yet, but the passive I'm really looking forward to is the one achieved at level 6 vampirism — the ability to bite and transform another player into a new vampire.

I already belong to two vampire-centric guilds, so that helps with RP and whatnot. One of the guilds is focused on female character vampires and initiates, while the other is just vampires in general. Both are pretty cool.

Its more of a Role-playing choice for me rather than anything.

    ^ This ^

I have 3 vampires now and I enjoy playing them enormously! I have no interest in PvP so I can't comment on how they work in that, and all 3 have yet to reach vet levels. I just love feeding them, using their skills, embracing other players into vampirism!

Oh, and all the blood! ;)
It's great fun. For RP it's very good. I take my witch and scare newbies just for fun. I walk her everywhere and circle attractive toons drooling a bit.

Hahaha, I love doing this as well! Stalking around looking hungry... ;)

This is good to know. I've created another character for fanfic purposes and I don't really want to wait till I'm level 40 to turn her.

    It's called balance ;)
If vampires were OP (as they were for a while) everyone would have to be one to compete (and they were).

    Supernatural Recovery II
Increases Magica and Stamina regen by 10%

    Undeath II
Increase damage mitigation when player is below 50% health. Mitigation scales up to 50% dependent on player's health.

    Dark Stalker
Increases movement speed while sneaking and allows players to enter stealth more quickly at night

Are some of the strongest passives in the game, but then again you also take more fire damage and sacrifice health regen.

Which is for example no problem if you are a dunmer and except when you are a tank lifereg is "only nice to have".
I have next to nothing for beeing a vampire dps and don't miss it one bit.

It depends if you're looking at it from a PvE or PvP perspective too. The sneak speed won't help you much in PvE for example but is incredibly useful in PvP, not only for moving from point a to b quicker.

Personally I don't really miss the health regen on my vamp templar. I've ran both stage 1 vamp with 55 (I think) regen and stage 4 with 14 and don't even notice a difference except between fights.

Thats not true. As NB you:
1)Get for sneak attack position (and that usually two dead mob with single stealth opener) in no time
2)You don't need to spam cloak like crazy, in most situation single cloak is enough to sneak pass any single group. Even larger group like those in public or group dungeons
3)Same as for solo, in group dungeons you can quickly move into position for stealth opener, without making you party wait for ages until you get there.

A small caution, my witch punches way above her weight, but yes it's perfectly doable. People have gotten level 15 chars though it.
