question on sets

I am playing a DK with one-hand and Shield. I made myself new armor with the chest, legs, and gloves in the Ashen Grip set, and the sword, shield, and boots in the deaths wind set.
Now it seems like the ashen grip set works all the time, but I have yet to see the deaths wind set do anything. Is this because its on both the sword and shield, or am I just not noticing it or what ?

I used deathwind on my armor for 10 levels, never noticed it actually work. For it to work though, you have to be under 30% health, which doesn't happen to me much.

I've done a number of tests with the death's wind set and i also have never seen it proc, i have made white cloth armor, a staff, heavy armor with a sword and shield, tried them white, tried them green, multiple types of melee mobs and so far nothing, I've even tried 3/3, 2/3 and 4/3 to no avail :(

I find it odd that there are not more people highlighting this issue, if anyone has seen this set proc and can show some proof and explain the circumstances and type of mob attacking them it would be very helpful.

I played around with the death wind set myself and didn't see it proc enough to make it worth my wild. As for the Ashen Grip ... it procs with every fight. Some times more than once. Considering what I can find set wise (cafting or looting) on the next zone, Ashen Grip is still the set I prefer to use.

There's another early set (NIght's Embrace? Something like that) that gives you 40% regen boost while hiding. Useless in a fight, but AFTER a fight you can duck into hiding and heal up more quickly before the next fight. Minor benefit, true, but the Ashen fire breath is also rather underwhelming in terms of damage, as I recall. Does LOOK neat, though. :)

There are a few sets which have a bugged proc (as in they don't)

Bump. Noticed this too. Wasted some good Dwarven Oil to make the items that do not actually work...bleh

Neither of these sets work for me. I tested Death's Wind for 5 days and it either doesn't ever go off with any noticeable effect or it goes off with no noticeable effect but doesn't actually do anything - in either case it doesn't work at all.

I also can't get Ashen's grip to ever go off. I'm assuming there's a visible effect to this? I can't see any mention in CLS. I also have the Viper set on which I can see in CLS. Perhaps having 2 sets is an issue?

Death's Wind set is known to be bugged (as are many other sets). They haven't fixed it yet in the public servers, but the patch for the closed PTS server from a week or so ago includes a fix for it (the items in the PTS patch will be released into the public servers once they're sure that the fixes are working as intended).

You can see full details on what items are in the PTS patch here, but the details specific to sets are:
    Item Sets
Adroitness Set: This set now properly grants magicka recovery.
Crest of Cyrodiil Set: This set now reduces your enemy target’s healing taken on melee hit by 33%.
Curse Eater Set: This set will now properly reduce the duration negative effects.
Death’s Wind Set: This set’s knockback effect will no longer apply irregularly.
Hist Bark Set: This set’s dodge effect will now properly apply while blocking.
Hunding’s Rage: Fixed an issue where this set was not increasing weapon damage by the intended amount.
Kyne’s Kiss Set: This set’s snare effect will now properly triggering with the Arrow Spray and Volley abilities.
Nightshade Set: This set will now correctly reduce the stamina cost of sneaking.
Nikulas’ Heavy Armor Set: This set will now properly reflect spell projectiles.
Oblivion’s Edge Set: This set will now properly returning soul gems on resurrect.
Prayer Shawl Set: This set’s damage shield now has the correct value, instead of zero.
Ranger’s Gait Set: This set will now properly reduce the effectiveness of incoming snares.
Robes of Onslaught Set: This set will now properly reduce the duration of snare effects.
Soulshine Set: This set’s bonus will now correctly apply to projectile spells that have a cast time.
Spectre’s Eye Set: Fixed an issue with the Spectre’s Eye item set where it was giving a greater dodge chance than stated in the tooltip.
Torug’s Pact Set: Fixed an issue with Torug’s Pact item set where it was reducing the cooldown of light and heavy attacks instead of enchantment procs.
Whitestrake’s Retribution Set: Slightly reduced the set bonus duration.

earlier today I crafted lvl 38 short and great sword with belt and got the 3/3 bonus to work fine. A little later I crafted the same gear at lvl 42 and it only shows 1/3. Not sure what the difference is? Wearing Storm Knight gear everywhere else.

I quit using Death Wind awhile ago. Looked like it would be good for a light armor setup, save the squishy. Is there a particle effect or you just see mobs getting knocked back? Wouldn't mind seeing some swirling wind like particles besides just some mobs with the knockback animation, which is OK but a little underwhelming.

The patch notes say it's fixed, however if anyone has tried it out please let us know.

Reg Ashen Grip: you should see flames flying out of your head. This seems to have always worked but the damage seems to be only good for lower levels. I did some testing a couple weeks or more ago and the damage didn't scale with the level of the crafted gear. So another set I gave up on for now.

At level 30 I still use Ashen Grip. As a DK, there just doesn't really seem to be a good set of armor to match my needs that can be crafted in either Grahtwood or Greenshade. As for the non-crafted sets you can find, I always seem to find just one or two pieces of the set before I have completely outleveled it. I always end up missing that magic third piece.

Ashen Grip has positives and negatives with it.

    Positive

It hits on almost every fight and sometimes more than once / fight.

It is very obvious when it hits.

I have seen it proc even if you don't attack. You take damage, it could proc.

    Negative

The animation for Ashen Grip can interrupt your more powerful attacks. If you have a series of attacks you go through with each fight, you can expect that chain to be broken at some point when Ashen Grip procs.

The damage is very slight. I am going off of memory here, but I think it increases just 1 point with each level of armor higher than the base level.

I currently have a VR6 sorcerer and am using both of these (Ashen Grip and Death Wind) sets. I can say for a fact that they do work. When I am using duel swords one set is complete. When I use a staff the other set is complete.
You'll know when the "knock back" effect happens, trust me. There will be a loud explosion and your enemies will go sailing. As for the other effect... That will be obvious as well.
In order to make the set work you need to have all 5 pieces (in some cases only 3) of that set equipped at once.

There's a loud boom and a purple concussion ring sweeps outwards. Kicks up dust, too. Note that if it triggers because of a ranged attack or DoT the knockback is fairly useless... Note also that bosses immune to knockbacks are immune to this, too.

Combine with Bolt Escape to get the heck outta Dodge... ;)

Just the info I was looking for, thanks. I can say that during the time I had a Death Wind set (I do all 6 crafts) I did not see it proc once.

Plenty of good crafted sets. My store link in my sig has a tab with a chart on the crafted sets. Looks like I need to update it since the last patch with some new effects they added.

I too had never had death's wind work for me. What a waste it was crafting it. :(
