Slow progress smithing?

Hello,

My exp. bar for smithing only moves a mm or two when creating weapons and armor of equal level as myself.

Is there something wrong? When doing alchemy or other crafts its way faster.

You get more from Decon than you do from making.

Try looking through this area and you will see it mentioned dozens of times over. So decon stuff you find, find a crafting buddy etc.

Worth it, though keep items you need for Trait research as you go along. Start saving them now as often I deconned things thinking I'd find them later..Not always the case..

I found the best way to level up is that you have a friend that is higher than you or even a second character that is pulling in weapons and armour a lot higher than your rank that way you can take those high level weapons and deconstruct them and watch your level fly up.
Everything you do is everything you've done

Agree. With a caveat that when I decon stuff that is too high (e.g. next level of material) a chance to get this material back is lower (than for your level material) if you have a skill to craft it, and almost nonexistent if you don't.

There are guilds out there whose soul purpose is to help players learn the crafting traits. I am actually a member of one such guild and more than once they have come through with having pieces with traits in the guild bank that I could research when I had nothing in my inventory left.

If research traits is becoming problematic, send me a tell in game or here on the forums and we can talk about membership. Because any day a crafter goes without researching something is day wasted toward reaching that goal of maximizing your crafting.

Yes, initially this was a very good approach to leveling. Now, due to bot manipulation of resource gathering it takes way to long to gather resources at sufficient levels or quantities to do more than scratch the surface of your rank.

At this point, I decon pretty much everything that crosses my path and actually go out of my way to farm mobs in the hope of gaining more items to deconstruct.

Which only works if your on the same server. I know I've said it before there are two although people forget that all the time.

to add a clarification for the OP deconning your own crafted items is a waste. and crafting items is the second (behind the above) worst way to level crafting.

you want to decon other peoples stuff only.
