DAoC does. However its not the now known instanced battlegrounds that does capture the flag etc.
It was basically mini cyrodiil, with 1 keep as the "objective", but was typically just groups or solos running around looking for enemies to kill.
It was not for max level though. And was originally created to get players to get a feel for the PvP before max level.

V6-V10
And I'm sure Cyrodiil would still be going strong.
Sounds great to me!
Again, pleas no BGs!
There are other game genres that do all that stuff a lot better in pretty much every way (balance, mechanics etc).
If i want an arena style game I'll go play Quake
If i want an objective based game I'll go play LoL or CS
In this game, I want to expect the unexpected, like being ambushed by a third faction. I want the odds to be uneven from the get go so that i can beat the them. I don't want there to be a way to "win" the game.
I acknowledge That there are issues with this games PvP but I say rather than replacing Cyrodiil, lets just fix it and make it so everyone can have a good time instead. This could be done for example by adding more important open field objectives to promote fighting outside the keeps etc.
But that's just me...
Nah it's because it's more funProblem is that i think it'd pretty much kill Cyrodiil.
Not because the majority thinks it's more fun, but because it's easier and more convenient. Just queue up, play for 10 minutes and you're done. With some luck you even captured more flags than your enemies -,-
They should just promote these kinds of skirmishes in Cyrodiil instead.
- Make the Dolmens and Solo Dungeons award drops based on your level/rank and comparable to whatever zone you'd be XPing in at that point (sets included).
- Increase the XP from Cyrodiil quests and give a big bonus for completing a whole hub.
- Make taking secondary objectives (farms etc) worth a damn not only when assaulting the keep
... etc.

First they want battleground/minigames; the consequence of which will segment pvp making Cyro seem bigger then it already does, watering down the effect of War, what Cyro is intended to accomplish.
Second, they will want bracketed battlegrounds/minigames, because they won't want to fight V12s as bolstered level 10s and they won't want to actually invest any time in playing the game. The result will further segment pvp creating queue times and lots of standing around waiting for pops.
Third, they will want further segmentation of the queues to prevent organized pvprs from grouping and entering a queue to dominate and beat on pugs. Thus further segmenting the pvp community creating longer queue times etc etc.
Fourth, when they realize they are still bad they will stop pvping and we will be left with the *** system that every other MMO has tried.
The answer is NO!
Thanks. That's all that needs to be said really. I really, really hope Zeni doesn't give in.Godless_Heathen wrote: »This is how it goes:
