What's wrong with offering variety in a MMORPG. If you don't like the venues you don't have to queue for them. Zerg vs Zerg will still be available to those that want it.
Personally, I would enjoy RVR/BGs/ and Arena pvp. I like my pvp like my women/sex life - lots of variety, with dodging, screaming, stamina boost, and the confrontation to last a while!

As stated by the Dev in charge of PvP.. as well as the thoughts of many players who have experienced it in multiple games.
Cyrodiil is their focus. They are very proud of their PvP zone, and they want the war to be main focus of PvP in ESO. Any addition to PvP can and will take away from that focus. They did hint at adding some type of "mini games"(i assume some type of quests for smaller groups) in cyrodiil itself. And I think if they do it right they can satisfy most of the PvP player base.. both for and against arena/battlegrounds.

Brian wheeler already said E-sport , arenas and dueling are a possibility after Cyrodill is finished ( imperial city) if the community wants it.
They said no we well not have capes.JoseDelgadoCub17_ESO wrote: »Kyotee0071 wrote: »xsorusb14_ESO wrote: »Nope...Game doesn't need WZ or Arena's.... If you want that game, Might i suggest playing WoW..

He also said he wants Cyrodiil the remain the focus. And then brought up alternative ideas in cyrodiil itself(rather than instanced PvP). Did you expect him to say:" No we will never have arenas, even if everyone wants it."
Because when people queue up to PvP they actually want to PvP not PvWall and spam AoE when they engage other playersxsorusb14_ESO wrote: »Kyotee0071 wrote: »xsorusb14_ESO wrote: »Nope...Game doesn't need WZ or Arena's.... If you want that game, Might i suggest playing WoW..

Whats wrong with offering variety? Because offering variety usually makes everything mediocre.
Stick with 1 thing and make it great, not 3 things that are just terrible.
Past games have proven that the second you offer two options, be it Giant PvP like this game, and Warzones, one becomes less popular then the other.
The last thing a game like this needs is to pull a bunch of people out of the PVP because somebody doesn't like adds in fights.
E-Sport, Arena are possible after they go free to play and put in a cash shop.
Because that's where all of those games have went.
And for other than the purpose of testing things out.. duels have always been retart.
