Since we are getting the Templar refresh after warden. I want only one thing

    1. Give us back the old biting jab spear model!
The NightHollow model on the current biting jabs looks awful, like I am picking up a shovel and jabbing the ground like I am picking up dog poo. Give us back the old pointy spear for our jabs!

Obviously we can't make any promises right now, but just want to note that one of the first things the community team noted to the team working on combat refresh was to look at the jabs animation. And they also already had it on their radar. So the call for a fix to the jabs animation is well documented here.

THANK YOU for that!! As others have said, JABS is the iconic skill of the entire class, and when they heavily nerfed jabs awhile back which opened the door to making spear the spammable (which made absolutely no sense)... it just gutted the class for many of us long-time Templar players. Bringing Jabs back to life would definitely be a godsend to loyal Templar players.

There isn’t a veteran Templar I know who isn’t sick of Jabs, and how ugly the skill is, even before the animation change.

The entire premise of repeatedly stabbing with a spear doesn’t make sense. The skill has also always felt horrible with the netcode present in ESO causing you to miss a player right in front of you, then you have the problem of players just walking through you and preventing half of your damage, don’t even get me started on both Minor and Major Evasion…

Yeah; if a Spear is kept as the spammable, for the love of Stendarr make it hit once or twice but for actual damage and require a target… it can cleave as an after effect.

Veteran templar here, been playing templar since launch. Jabs is what made me fall in love with the class, and the multi hit quick stabs have always appealed to me.

So yeah, I'm not sick of jabs, altho ofc it deserves to be better both functionally and visually.

As someone who played alongside a templar for hours and years, as their main friend in eso, not watching them vigorously sweep the floors anymore, would be great, and if the main spammable can also not be noisy, that would also be great.

(Maybe it was a skill style? I dunno, but it was noisy)

Another Veteran Templar; I don't really agree with any of what you said aside from the "for actual damage" part. Jabs (and using it frequently) is part of what made me fall in love with the class. Seeing the skill get gutted over the years was pretty disappointing so I'd like it to return to its former glory.

I left the game more than a year ago. Mostly because of burn out. But also because my Templar main, whom I had played since shortly after the game came out of beta, had become less and less relevant. It seemed you could not make the DK strong enough, nor the Templar weak enough. I kind of gave up. It got even worse after hybridization.
So I'm very much looking forward to this refresh - and thank you for moving it up ahead of sorcerer. Templar is much more in need of it.
The ONE thing I want to say is to please, please avoid any inclination toward the 'House' concept. No 'build your house and stay in it'. This does not match the reality of ESO combat in any way. Combat requires lots of movement, often over long stretches of terrain. So even the idea of putting something on the ground and having to just run through it on occasion does not work. Please avoid any of this. It will only weaken the class kit and leave Templars just an unplayable.

We have gotten a small taste of mobility with one of the class masteries called Bastion of light. It allows us to maintain sacred ground on the move with solar barrage, instead of having to place or move back into our rune or ritual. It's hands down our strongest mastery.
I'd envision a more mobile house based on aura like effects instead of static ground aoes.

This is really nice to hear. Important to note though, it isn’t just the nearly unanimous opinion of the ugly looking animation. The feel of the ability, as well as its power as the class spammable. The 4 ticks specifically I think is important to get back to and the prior synergy that had with burning light procs. Folks are nostalgic for how it used to feel, because it was great design that felt fluid and natural.

The old jabs functionality should be the inspiration for the rework of the skill, not just the animation/spear style.

It's nice but templars shouldn't have to slot Solar Barrage or spear shreds to be mobile. I don't use either in PvP

The new animation for jabs is disgusting. Why change it at all? Makes no sense to me.

I also think there is a fundamental flaw with Templar in that many of their abilities require the Templar to stand still, which isn't very practical on this game. They should re-do all of those and make them like auras that follow you.
