Lol at the comment about going F2P, it amazes me that people don't get that F2P isn't a bad thing (if done right) and makes the company FAR more money than sub base, especially if it's both like Rift. Sure P2W sucks and I would leave ESO if it ended up that way, but F2P is no worries at all.
Except, in my opinion, F2P ruined Rift. Don't get me wrong, as free to play goes, Rift is great. Hell, it's still not even horrible for a subscription game; but it was so much better before they started going down that road. Before they started heading that direction, they had so much new content on a regular basis it was hard for a person with limited play time like myself to do the events AND progress through the world. At one point, I was at least 5 levels ahead of the main story content I was on due to XP from events. Their motto at the time was "your sub should cover everything", then they announced Storm Legion. Around that time, they offered a great deal on year subs. Then the continuous new content pretty much dried up as development was directed to the expansion. Then they announced they were going to charge for the expansion. Then the expansion flopped. Then the annual subscriptions from the previous year rolled over. Then they announced F2P. Cash shop events have replaced content events. Grind/purchase has replaced rewards for taking part in events.

Actually I won't. I'll spend half of it at most.

But I'm fine with the sub price, so whatever. I'm not entirely sure if this game is worth $15 in its current state, but hopefully it will get better soon(ish).

Still, of course I'd love to see a cheaper sub. Ideally, they'd pay me to play. If only the world worked like this...

My bad, i guess i should have specified that i didn't mean a matinee. And i guess i should have also included that most people would be getting some kind of snack and a drink. And let's not forget the gas or bus-fare to get to the theater, there and back.

Let's see, did i forget anything else to specify out that you won't be doing when you go out to see your matinee Rosveen?

Sarcasm aside, i think you got my point before :\
Eating in the cinema *shudders* Even if I wanted to, hey, I'm a poor student, I have better things to spend my money on than their overpriced snacks. For example ESO. :D

Anyway, yes, I get your point. It'd probably be easier if I didn't have to google matinee - I still don't quite get it though, if you did not mean a matinee, what did you mean and what's the difference? Help a confused non-native.

Actually in my area, food at the movie theater is pretty good. And as most are in complexes with other eating establishments so there is quite a selection of good eats.

@ the bold. Matinee showings of movies are usually half-price. Because they are shown earlier in the day and the theaters want to entice ppl in during the off-peak times.

    Thanks.

I'm not saying the food is bad, it's just not worth it if I can smuggle in my own snacks. Cheaper this way and no one ever checks. And I wasn't talking about half price. Where I live, the full price for a 3D movie in peak time is about $8.5. It's the most expensive option. I pay less because I'm a student. Standard snacks almost double it, but it's still under $15. I wasn't taking the cheapest possible option when I quoted your post, it's just how it works for me - I'd have to really try to make one cinema trip cost $15. Assuming no after cinema dinner or anything - but why would I if I'm alone, which is what you mentioned at the beginning.

    So, erm, ESO sub?

Get over it ppl for goodness' sake....

You will literally spend more going out to see a 90 min movie by yourself than you do for one month's sub.

If $15 a month is gonna break you, you shouldn't be looking to spend ANY money outside the necessities(food, rent, gas, and lights). Not a judgement, a fact.

And just to stay on topic-No, the sub fee is fine.

Yep. My husband paid large last night to take us out to see 3D Godzilla, in which the 3D was unnoticable, and there was hardly any Godzilla. He wouldn't even pick up that damn school bus and throw it, like he should have done. What a gyp. Yes, I get better value from ESO than movies, bugs or not.

Hollywood is dumb. When I go see a monster movie, I want to see monsters. I don't CARE about some ***' personal crap.

This makes me sad. :( I wanted to take my dad to see it on the weekend, he likes Godzilla movies.

I doubt I can get him into ESO...

Oh, it's not that bad as far as it goes, but yeah, it could have used a lot more Godzilla.

The MUTO monsters, um, I can show you a pic of them from 20 years ago in my 2nd Edition Werewolf: the Apocalypse books - only there, they're called Nexus Crawlers, and only a psycho would unleash such a thing on players. One could also say they look like Psychomachiae from the same game, and yes, they're OP enemies only for high-level packs.

But I noticed that's the way of Hollywood - they seem to think we actually care about individuals when a big disaster or three is going on. So there'll be 1:30 of personal whinging, and maybe 20 minutes of disaster, scattered throughout the movie - and if you're really unlucky, it'll have social engineering preaching (2012, looking at you).

I just want a good old fashioned monster/disaster movie with lots of destruction. Yes, I actually enjoyed the new Superman, in the same sense I enjoyed marathoning the two Dragonball series (original and Z, GT seems more for kids.) When I want to see butt-kicking, well, there better be a lot of it.

If I want drama, I'll go watch Days of Our Lives (is that still on?)

Possible spoiler - Godzilla does pull one hefty ***-move of a finisher, though.

Sadly this will always be a complaint by people, You will have those who will want it to be less, then we have those who think it will be F2P some time soon. Odly enough i dont see that happening at least for the first two years. Mainly due to console versions coming out, as for that hand full of people (mainly the same 5) i see complaining about the new content. No game ever has new content right at launch, they spend most their time fixing the bugs that no one reported because it made things easy for them such as duping ot unlimited XP quest's. If these things were reported as needed we would not have as much down time in fixing them. So good job guys, i know they will be adding new content soon you just need to wait for it. If you do not find this game worth the 15 a month then stop playing it is that simple, give it time to age then come back.

We all know that it is a law of physics that any AAA game shall be priced 59.99 bucks and any subscription MMO will be 14.99 bucks a month.

I would really want to see a game try to ask more or less than $15. I don't mind 15 and would not mind if a game asked higher but usually they fail to convince me they are worth $15 a month for more than 6 months either.

    So, erm, ESO sub?

lol ok last bit of explanation then we let it drop yeah?

I live in the SE region of the United States. Not even remotely one of the more expensive areas of the country. Average, non-matinee movie ticket is $11 USD. Even if you skip the full on snack and just get a drink, the smallest(which is essentially a large drink in size) is just under $5 USD. There is your sub for the month before you even factor in transportation.

That is if you just up and decided you wanted to see a flick and went by yourself. And not all of us are students. And i don't even know if theaters do that student schtick here anymore.

And guess what? That was me super-lowballing it. That was just a regular-ass movie theater. Full price for a 3D ticket starts at ~$18.00. That is JUST the ticket, with nothing else added in.

So yeah, its really easy to justify $15 for something you have access to for a whole month, when some other things you do on a fairly regular basis(IE a night out with friends-because despite my example, who is consistently going out to movies by themselves?) can easily be much more for a few hours tops.

Any other questions or comparisons you wanna make Rosveen, Google is your friend.

F2P is nothing but a Money pit for the Company and allows Leeches to play for nothing .
I redownloaded my STO account after two years of not playing and seen commonly people who would say they never spent a dime into the game and were upset that players who did would charge outrageous amounts for ships in the Market .

In SWTOR when I go back no and then to play I pay a Sub , because not paying feels like stealing to me .
I think if the game if worth me playing , I am happy to support the game . If it is not worth payment than I do not play it .

I am cut and dry like that .

To me the core problem with F2P is that even in the best case (i.e. not being nickeled and dimed, or gimped horribly for being a freebie) you are presented with the situation that you feel like you are cheating or being cheated, and oddly enough, often simultaneously.
