He Streaked 3x in a row. You don't do that unless you need to get away.
Honestly, this video doesn't paint Streak in the light you think it does.
The player you're chasing is walking between casts instead of sprinting, so they're making a pretty poor effort to actually escape. Meanwhile, you're sprinting at full speed the entire time and still can't catch them. If they had been sprinting between Streak casts as well, they would've created even more distance.
So you have someone making a mediocre effort to escape while you're making your best possible effort to catch them, and they're still outpacing you. That's not exactly compelling evidence that Streak's mobility is weak.
And again, this thread isn't about nerfing the mobility. The issue is the CC attached to it. The mobility can remain strong while the instant, AoE, unblockable, undodgeable CC gets some reasonable restrictions.
I think you're trying pretty hard to sound like you would do better than that person in the video. I don't think you would. We can always put this down to a test in game. I don't think you'd be able to get away from me just by Streaking though.
Stop acting like a keyboard warrior and stay on topic. This thread is about Sorc CC, not who's better at chasing each other around Cyrodiil.
If you want to challenge someone to a duel or test your Streak escape theory, take it to DMs and do it in-game. Nobody cares about your hypothetical 1v1 here. The discussion is whether Streak's CC component is overtuned and what reasonable counterplay could be added to it.
There is nothing to address lol. All the counterplays have been provided. Failing to do so is not Streak's problem.
... what counterplay?
Building movement speed and sidestepping
So your counterplay solution is to anticipate the timing of an instant-cast ability and hope the player using Streak is bad enough to miss?
"Sidestep it" isn't meaningful counterplay when Streak has a huge hit area and is one of the easiest CCs in the game to land. Movement speed doesn't change the fact that the Streak user can simply wait for your movement and cast it when you're in the path.
That's not counterplay to the ability's mechanics. That's just hoping the Streak player screws up.
The counterplay is to read the opponent and know he's about to Streak. It's called having game sense.
Also, you're not going to die from being stunned by Streak. It's literally not a big problem. Getting stunned by Streak is literally no different than randomly getting stunned by Javelin or CCed by other abilities. It happens all the time.
This is an even worse line of argumentation. The counterplay is to know the future. I have been playing the game for as long as you, you know you aren't going to read your opponent properly all the time, you probably don't read your opponent properly the majority of the time. Do you block every single instance of damage that would deal higher than X amount of damage to you? No, of course not, this is such a silly way to engage. Do you block every single instance of blockable CC? No of course not.
The other part of this, "haha you won't die to the stun, getting stunned by streak or jav randomly doesn't kill you" You can die to streak and the ability you cannot play against for that gcd because you were stunned by CC you cannot counter during that time period. I don't even care about streak being nerfed or not, but hearing this as your argument makes me kind of want to take a pro nerfing streak position. This is your best defense, predict the future? Come on now.
I've done over 15000 duels against different players on various classes to know each class' combo by heart. I know when someone is about to use their CC after they've casted certain abilities. For example:
If a Templar casts Purifying Light/PoTL, Ele sus, Crescent, then I know Javelin will be next and will roll dodge spam to avoid it.
A DK will try to use Fossilize every 7s, so I naturally play around that window and anticipate the stun.
A NB will try to play around off-balance, so I hold block when it's up. If they use Fear, I'll just play around the 7s window as they will try to CC into Spectral Bow.
A Necro will try to combo around Blastbones with Turn Evil/Pull, so I'll just hold block when Blastbones is up
A Sorc will try to Streak stun after applying Curse and/or Elesus and other debuffs, so I just sidestep and run around after they do so.
I also block cast every ability, so naturally I block a lot of stuff without needing to think about it.
If you fail to anticipate a combo, then it's not my problem. Just spend more time fighting people and you'll see.
You do realize this entire thing is non-responsive right? The entire thing you wrote doesn't address anything I said.
Also, you are just being bad faith or lying, you can pick which. You do not block cast every ability. You are, even in videos that YOU posted not block casting every ability. Want to try having an actual discussion or are you going to lie, obfuscate, and make horrible meaningless responses to every single person on this thread in an attempt to keep streak from getting attention for being overloaded as a CC?
Everything I wrote addresses what you said. I play with 300 ping, so Streak doesn't even work for me because it never lands. In some of my clips, I use Ball of Lightning instead, so it's not like I'm benefitting from Streak lol.
And yes, I block cast every ability when fighting (except for kiting because it slows me down).
Okay, well that explains why you don't understand how the skill works. For the rest of us who aren't playing from the moon, the game works just fine. If you're playing on 300 ping and Streak "never lands," you're probably not the best person to use your personal experience with Streak as evidence for how balanced it is.
I play around 60ms, and Streak is extremely easy to land. So your experience of the ability being unreliable at 300 ping isn't particularly relevant to how the skill performs under normal conditions.
And none of the rest of this addresses the argument either. Block-casting everything doesn't give Streak counterplay; it just means you're already using a general defensive habit. You've also posted footage where you weren't block-casting, so I'm not sure how relevant that claim is anyway. And saying you use Ball of Lightning in some clips doesn't somehow make Streak's mechanics less powerful.
Your ping, block-casting habits, and which skill you happened to use in some clips don't change the mechanics of Streak for the rest of the player base.

yes, I block cast every ability becomes I block casted every ability in this video. [snip]
??? I block cast every ability out of habit when I can. I don't block cast when kiting because it slows me down. What's so hard to understand?

I've also played with 100ms before, so I know how it works. I'm saying Streak is not difficult to deal with like you make it out to be. I'm not sure why you're so fixed on this one skill when the main offender is CoE.
I don't understand how you can say the main offender is CoE when we're specifically talking about Streak. CoE isn't stunning an unlimited number of targets through block and dodg with an insane area.
If you think CoE is a problem too, that's a separate discussion. Feel free to create your own thread about CoE. This thread is about Streak's CC, and bringing up another ability doesn't somehow address the issues being raised with Streak.

You have done this more than 5 times in this thread. You just don't want streak nerfed, you have several false equivalencies trying to equate certain skills to others for sake of a sound analogy but none of them land. Streak is objectively more overtuned than any other CC ability in terms of its application, and lack of counterplay, arguing against that is just arguing against fact.

That's a good point.
@hoangdz, you initially tried to argue that Javelin was essentially impossible to counter, then later admitted it has easy counterplay. Meanwhile, the only "counterplay" you've actually provided for Streak is hoping the other player isn't competent enough to land it.
If you're going to lie about the mechanics to defend Streak, at least don't make it so obvious. One ability has actual defensive counterplay; the other apparently requires the defender to hope the attacker screws up.
Also, just to point it out again, Streak is in an entirely different league from Javelin in terms of overall utility and power. Trying to compare the two skills as though they're remotely equivalent is disingenuous at best.

You literally don't your own videos show that.
I block casted every skill in this subclassed duel video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOn1tUNqsmk&t=90s
If you're wondering why the damage taken numbers don't show blocked, it's because I play with 300 ping, so the latency difference ends up making the skills go through my block anyway.
yes, I block cast every ability becomes I block casted every ability in this video. [snip]
??? I block cast every ability out of habit when I can. I don't block cast when kiting because it slows me down. What's so hard to understand?
So now it is "I block cast every ability out of habit when I can" and not I block cast every ability. You do realize this isn't an issue with my understanding and it's yours right? Do you need me to put all of this into claude on the highest model so you can understand the issue is with your lack of understanding and not mine?
Regardless, your entire arguments the entire time don't even add up. You go from talking about how ""Javelin is also impossible to react to"" yet right after that you say "If a Templar casts Purifying Light/PoTL, Ele sus, Crescent, then I know Javelin will be next and will roll dodge spam to avoid it." Yet I have seen you be hit by both it and streak.
I don't want Streak nerfed because there is nothing to nerf, plain and simple.

Yes, I block cast every ability out of habit when I can. No good player is block casting every single ability when kiting because it slows them down, but when they are on the offense, they will absolutely try to block cast everything. Please read between the lines instead of taking every word bluntly and arguing semantics.
Yes, playing with 300 ping doesn't let you avoid all Javelin stuns. That's just how it is. Doesn't change the fact that I've also avoided 4 Javelins in a row because I anticipated my opponent's combo but didn't record it.

If the only way to avoid an instant CC is to get lucky and hope they aren't competent enough to land it, then you're not describing a defensive option. You're describing the attacker making a mistake.

Both have defensive plays lol...I've literally given you the counters. Not my problem you can't counter Streak.
The problem is that your proposed "counterplay" is essentially get lucky and hope the Streak player misses. That's not real counterplay.
If the only way to avoid an instant CC is to get lucky and hope they aren't competent enough to land it, then you're not describing a defensive option. You're describing the attacker making a mistake.

I don't want Streak nerfed because there is nothing to nerf, plain and simple.
Again, you aren't even responding to what I said. Your initial claim was you block cast every single ability, then it became when not kiting, which I will grant you because I am a generous man. You are now saying you block cast when you can. You literally are not following your own line of argumentation, again, do you want claude to explain that for you? I'll use some tokens for you don't worry, I don't mind, because again, I am a generous man.
Being that I am, and wanting to be generous to you, can you explain your constant pivoting? You cannot react to jav, you have such large ping, yet you are telling me you can reactionarily run out of a sorcs streak line? You do realize people on 50 ping can't reactionarily run out of this right? I am looking to be charitable to you but you just continue to lie or obfuscate about every single thing you have said in this thread. Have some humility and honesty. You are making sorc look like it should actually be nerfed further when you speak like this with such little knowledge especially given how long you've been playing.

He has done this multiple times in this thread. Your enemies making mistakes is not what counterplay is. Streak doesn't actually have counterplay.
It does and it's called building movement speed.
Building movement speed doesn't suddenly make Streak difficult to land. This has already been pointed out to you several times. The Streak user can see your movement just like you can see theirs and simply cast when you're in the path.
I understand that you're playing at 300 ping and apparently find Streak unreliable because of it, but that's not representative of how the ability performs for everyone else. I play around 60ms and it's extremely easy to land.
So "build movement speed" isn't a meaningful answer. You can move faster and still have essentially no direct counterplay to the CC itself.

Yes, I block cast every single ability in a duel, as shown in the duel clip. In Cyro, I block cast when on the offense and don't do it as often while kiting. Nothing I have said is wrong.
Yes, I can actually run out of a Sorc's streak line. It's literally tested in game in an actual fight. What is so hard to understand?
And for all that effort trying to nerf Sorc, it's actually hilarious that your latest Stream shows your group abusing the Shield Stacking mechanic in Cyro.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddHbuMu5QL0&t=2138s
Trying hard to nerf 1 ability while your group crutches on an extremely broken mechanic is insane lol. If anything, what your group does warrants more of a nerf than Sorc. Ball groups and their HoT/shield stacking are actual cancer to the game than Streak.
I understand you are desperately trying to change the topic of conversation because you can't interact logically with streak being overpowered. Where you and I differ is when I run something broken in my group I still advocate for it to be changed, I just run it in the meantime because it is strong. I am one of the biggest advocates for nerfing shields, I will adapt regardless, you on the other hand are trying extremely hard to keep streak from being nerfed and continue to obfuscate. You don't block cast every single skill, but talking about this is a meaningless conversation because it seems like you don't even know what block casting is, you think it's the same thing as tap blocking.
Please engage logically and stay on topic static. Streak is overloaded in terms of a CC. Do you have any analogous comparison for a CC of that kind? I don't think so.

You're trying to derail the discussion again. Most ball groups are using Streak specifically as a CC because of its huge AoE and lack of counterplay, which is exactly why this thread is relevant to ball groups in the first place.
Streak is an AoE CC with no target cap that can't be blocked or dodged, and ball groups are actively leveraging those properties. So, are you making an argument for nerfing it then?

I am aware of Streak in groups because I ran my Sorc in groups before.
And no, I am not making an argument to nerf Streak in groups when pull mechanics and HoT/Shield stacking are still more problematic. Trying to address Streak while those 3 exist is pointless. Ballgroups will just move on to another AoE CC while having nigh-unkillable defense.

When you say you block cast every ability, do you mean, LA and then instantly block + cast an ability. And then let go the block until the next LA + ability. Or how do you do it exactly?
I sometimes block cast when i suspect that i am going to get stunned or gankers may be around. But block casting all abilities, i can only do that for not more than couple seconds period, as it drains half of my ressources. How do you block cast whole fight?

? I literally made 2 threads asking for CoE to be nerfed lol.
You abuse a broken mechanic while trying to get another supposed broken skill nerfed. You're not any different. Just stop now lol. Your entire group abuses shield stacking and making the game hell for everyone else. That is infinitely more cancerous than Streak. Just stop lol
Are you on the thread for ballgroups? There is one around, you can go comment on it, this is a thread about streak. Stay on topic.
